Well considering IGN called it the best game in 10 years, I'd say yes :P

I don't trust IGN. For starters, this is one of the most anticipated games of the year, and somehow they get first review and surprise surprise it gets nothing but praise. You rarely ever see a new relese in theaters getting reviewed from magazines before anyone else sees it.

IGN are sellouts for just that reason. So if said review had been relesed atleast 2 days later, I would have a different opinion. But for the time being, I can't take said review into account. Because really everyone gains from it. Rockstar gets obscene amounts of preorders, IGN gets more traffic and etc.

So if you're iffy on this game, wait for more reviews to come out if you put you're trust in them.

Well gametrailers has SEVERAL detailed gameplay videos on youtube now. Also a lot of vids from people with pirated copies showing some really nice character animations and driving physics. The game just looks amazingly detailed and I think the multiplayer will offer a TON of options to provide hundreds of hours of fun after the 30-35 hr campaign is overwith (and the 100 or so hours spent screwing around with cops). The hype for this game is incredible, and I think it's going to deliver with plenty of surprises to spare.

Picking mine up as soon as the store opens on the 29th (sadly no midnite release here). I've read every major reviewer (and some minor) that I could find on the net and NO ONE has given it less than a 9.2! I only know of handful of games in history that have that to their credit.

As for the game, GTA IV should be the most intuitive and interactive of any sandbox game to date. The graphics and lighting are amazing even by today's standards, and the framerate holds up remarkably well.

The city feels much more alive than any of the previous offerings(you won't see duplicate pedestrians often or sometimes at all, and they almost all have unique behavior patterns), and great effort has been taken not only to faithfully recreate locales and landmarks from NYC, but also to make sure there isn't a ton of dead space like Andreas often had.

I've heard people with pirated/early copies (and proof) saying that they could spend hours just running over pedestrians and flying out of cars, just because the game looks so smooth and the Euphoria physics greatly enhance the replayability factor.

If you spent any amount of time searching "gta4" on youtube and looking at the videos added "today" and still don't want the game, I don't know if anything anyone says is going to get you off the fence.

Look at Halo 3, it's a good game but it doesn't live up to the hype. It was supposed to be the best game in 10 years, but it wasn't.

I think Rockstar will actually be able to live up to the hype. Some people will like it less than others and some people will consider it the best game in ten years. IMO Two Worlds was terrible game before the patch but afterwards it deserves a 8,8.5, or a 9. But, it's just a matter of oppinion. It defenitely looks good.

I mean, if they got you standing in line at midnight or buying it the day it comes out you got to look forward to it at least a little.

JKT: I know what you mean. I was lucky to have the first of two major exams the evening of the GTA launch, so bought at midnight. However, I've got another on Saturday, so had to shelve it for a few days after my initial playthrough. It was painful :'(

In all honesty I'm very excited for this game and plan on picking it up in the next two weeks, assuming I can find a copy.

Hey man, you try typing 9 1/2 pages (i wasn't done) on criminal justice administration in two hours and then thinking straight :) I thought your post might be sarcastic, but that only occurred to me after the fact.

Anywho... GTA4 is a truly amazing game. They have very nearly perfected the genre with this one, and the driving is oh-so-satisfying. I've never had so many "wow" moments in the first day of playing a video game, and I've barely touched the campaign.
