Name: Gantz Type: Seinen (Basically Shounen but more mature) Genre: Action Rating: Probably R For Blood/Gore, Language, Partial Nudity Ok Plot: In japan there is a room, where the dead that have been spared gathered, but they are not safe. In this room is a black ball named Gantz, and the peoples fate is entirely up to him, thats the theory anyways. People Gantz chooses are equiped and then sent to an area to fight aliens/monsters/etc. If you die you are dead for good, he won't save you again, but if you live, based on your performance Gantz will grant you points. If you obtain 100 points you will be free to live life again. Good points: FINALLY A MAIN CHARACTER WHO BREAKS THE ANIME SHOUNEN CLICHES. The main character Kei is far from your average anime hero. He's lazy, not powerful or super fast, has average intelegince, and no supireor qualities what so ever. Now he has to survive under Gantz if he wants his life back The deaths in this anime are cool, anyone is fair game.Bad Points: Slow starting, picks up though.

Well, the main character does gain extraordinary power for part of the second half, but that's more of a determination thing than a superpower. He's just got the moves! ^_^ Anyway, I agree. The fact that the protagonist is the anti-hero does make for an interesting point of view. Although, the ending does follow the pattern of confusion most anime take. In all, a great series for the gore-lover in you! |
