I, your leader, am a grown man

Or at least about as close as I can get right now. I just finished my sophomore year of college. It seemed to go by a lot quicker than freshman year, but it was still a blast. I had a few really hard classes but for the most part I liked them all. I also got involved with a Boys and Girls Club and I am also doing the Big Brothers Big Sisters thing, and so I'll have a little brother for at least another nine months or so. He's pretty cool. And his younger brother is my roommate's (Sean) little brother. Since we're both volunteering we just go at the same time and things work out really well. This summer I'll be working on campus at the same job I've had the last three semesters. The pay is minimum wage but I'll be working full time, 40 hours a week, and it will be extremely better than my graveyard shift disaster of a job last summer. Sean and I and another one of our good friends Lane will be living in a townhouse together starting in June and we plan on staying there for at least two years or so, until we graduate. Since school ended May first and we can't move into our house until June, Sean and I are staying with some guys in a school-owned house for this next month. They're all cool guys and so far in the lat two days I've helped plant a garden and build a flower box. The weather is getting better so I'm trying to do more outdoor stuff. So yeah. Now I've got to deal with a house, a cell phone, a job, bills, taxes, voting, and other adult stuff. I feel so old. What's up on you guys' end?

Congrats grandpa! (Welcome to the end of your free time) I'm hired on for She Loves Me as the character Maraczek this summer. I'll be working my normal 7am-3pm job, then getting home in time for a shower only to leave for the 95 mile trip (one way) to the theatre, sunday - thursday....until the showdates which are thurs-sunday. If I'm lucky, they'll then use me for another show, Much Ado About Nothing. The luck part of it is hoping they can afford me because the rehearsals are during the day and I'll have to take a hiatus from my 40hr job. |

My summer is going to reflect much of what happened last summer, unfortunately. With so much last minute schoolwork to be completed, as well as Finals, these couple of weeks haven't allowed for any breathing room. See, that's what happens when you try to finish semester-long projects in one week. It was hellish for me, but I'm glad it is all over with and I can finally relax. That, actually, is what most of my summer is going to consist of -- relaxing. I plan on catching up on a lot of much needed pleasure reading that I never had a chance to complete during the semester, startup my photography again, and, by the looks of it, a good friend of mine from high school is thinking about doing some traveling. It should be fun. Aha, come to think of it, anything but work sounds good right about now. |

I'm now in a state of mind that I dub "perpetual friday", whereby I'm still aware of the fact that I just finished everything I had on my plate(frosh no more, now I get to walk a mile in EN's old shoes), and I'm not really willing to assume a new task yet because I've got all this free time ahead of me. So I drift in the ether of the unassigned lifestyle. Pretty soon, probably without notice, perpetual friday will morph into full blown perpetual Saturday, where I can't see the horizon of productivity ahead or behind any more. Then somewhere around the third week in June I'm going to get a rude awakening that I'm heading back to the summer camp where I worked last year. This year I'm pretty sure that I'm working two months instead of one though, so that'll carry me into the end of summer. |

I'm starting college after this summer. Undecided. I applied to like 5 schools, and variety of odd circumstances has pushed me into going local, to a place called Stony Brook, one of the better NY state universities. I just figured this out half an hour ago, when my other logical choice for college called to say that wouldn't be drawing from the wait list they put me on. Personally I've always been under the impression that college is going to suck, especially now that I'm going local. Yuck. I don't need no edjumakation. |

College is what you make of it, and despite my $36,000 + in student loans, I don't regret it. Some of my truly best friends ever were met during college. |
