immortality is the inability to die from age or sickness. generally (but depending on the author) an immortal ages normally until the age of about 25-30 (prime). At this point they stop aging. However, immortal beings can be wounded/killed. |

I agree with Chunk-e. Immortals do not age or, usually, die of sickness. However, they can be killed like regular mortal beings. In some cases, always depending on the author, the consider Immortal beings to be unkillable.. but if that was true than they wouldn't always be being killed off in the end. Now would they? |

If you had a choice, would you choose to be immortal? |

I have a feeling that if I was asked off the bat to live forever until the end of time than I would no doubtedly say yes. I also know that further down that road I would end up regretting my decision and learn that it had been made irrationally by fear, among other things. As a Human I have the natural fear of death. If I knew that my fiancee/husband would be able to spend that eternity with me than I would agree full-heartedly. |

It was made into a waste of time movie, with the Gilmore Girl in it. Tuck Everlasting is about a family that accidentally discovers a fountain of youth in a grove, at the same time it is about a little girl who doesn't have much freedom but doesn't realize how penned in she is till she meets this one boy. I don't really want to say anymore, except Kyogre is right. The one family's father especially has some beautiful dialog. And of course, there is the end... which is, depending on how much you've gone thru in your life, anything from just a little choked up to gut wrenching sobs. Its a small book, you could probably read it in a Sunday. |

Sounds awesome Cat. I can read it after "My Father Had a Daughter", though my lack of time to read with AP exams coming up is absolutely nuts. But a nice, relaxing sunday read. :3 *Goes check it out at library now* |

Gawd! I am hosting the AP exams in the library and the counselors are all freaking out like hens with one chick, making sure the tables are the right size and if so, do we have enough chairs. I am staying completely out of it, I have tons to do right now with every kid catching up on their work for the semester. End of the year gets hit so much harder than before winter break, but its still end of the semester, I don't understand why there is such a big panic to work on assignments and print them out, like NOW!! Plus our network cables are fritzing out, so half the comps in the library don't connect to the network and you can't save your work to the share drive. I'm selling floppy disks like crazy and if I had the cash I'd dump it all on flash drives and make a fortune :P Replace some of those lost/stolen books that everyone want to read and that's why they get stolen :P Try not to stress. I know you will rock your exams!! Let us know how you liked Tuck when you finish :) |

Why would immortality be bad? The argument seems so flawed, that my thoughts are that people "think" down those lines to justify the fact they can't live forever. |

Heh, acing 5000 level classes and bombing 1000 level classes. But I guess that is the life of a leisure studies major. Heh. Beyond that just training and working. |
