The Dark Tower series is my favorite by him, and yes the gunslinger is the first in the series... totally forgot to check up on that series lately and haven't read the 6th and 7th. |

Oldies like Christine and Thinner, If you haven't already, you should read Salem's Lot and the Stand before reading any more Gunslinger ;) |

I read 'salem's Lot a few years ago, so I was confused this morning when I picked him out for a short story to read between books. It was set in the mid 1800's, and the name was Jerusalem's Lot... then I remembered the name of the other wasn't quite the same. So I guess I'm reading the history of the other now. I don't know what my favorite is, they all have parts that stick in my memory. I like his style, very open and honest: just the storyteller, the story, and the audience. Nothing pretty or unnecessary. It wouldn't work for everyone, but it's best for him. |

Right now I'm reading The Stand (The uncut and complete edition) I never read the orginal one, but this one's pretty good. I'm only on page 400, not ever half-way in, and so much has happened, that I don't know how there be 700 more pages on it. My favorites are The Long Walk, which was the first one I ever read, it was written as Bachman (sp?), to lazy to see if that's really the name), 'Salem's Lot, and It. I really liked It, maybe it was because the characters were younger like me, but I enjoyed it and could follow it. But I could go on and on, he's so good :D |

Probably Cell. It's slimmer and doesn't bother the story with pages upon pages of flashbacks, background, and needless fluff. |
