Staryu, has something argumentative crawled up your ass and die? I have noticed that you feel the need to argue topics in several forums under a veil of pseudo-intellectualism. You pick arguments under topics that pertain directly to the forum and then fail to actually argue with the regulars of said forum, spitting out ridiculous analogies as evidence for whatever side you are attempting to spin. You ignore what the actual argument/issues being fielded by others and continue pressing forward as though you are undefeatable in your narcissistic state of "arguing". You're a chill guy, but have you been doing lines of coke laced with excerpts of Nietzsche's writings? |

Actually, no, I wasn't looking for an argument. It is true that I post straight, to-the-point questions on several forums, often not replying back, but when I do that shouldn't depict me as an pseudo-intellectual or trying to be something more than I am. Sometimes I may not reply because either I'm not around at the time or would rather listen and hear other perspectives. That's why I ask the questions I do because, more often than not, I have little input in what would be an acceptable answer, and knowingly do not post when clearly two individuals engaged in an argument do. I'm not the one to step in between a heated argument between an atheist and Christian on the topic of the afterlife, for example, given my stance would shift the topic in a new direction, away from what I'm trying to get out of people. Also, what you said holds some truth about me. I may make a ridiculous analogy here and there, and though that may portray me as mister know-it-all, I'm trying to learn here, too; we all are. If something I say doesn't make sense to you, talk to me about, use these forums what they were built to do, and explain to me how I'm wrong and perhaps what is a good argument. |

For the same reason others do here: To be able to learn something knew and expand my mind, along with my ideas and way of thinking. Its always interesting to learn something new and be able to think outside the box. Reading helps me do that at times. To relax and take it easy. After a hard day of working, school, or just a bad day the first place I turn to is my books. I find one that I can easily relax my brain, body, and soul to; one that can lead me away from the day and still allow me to remain relaxed. After reading classic books or doing big tests I usually try reading a book that I know well and aren't challenged by it. Its like a massage for the brain.Fun. I don't know any other way but reading that I can prowl the night with the vampire Lestat, disguise myself with Alanna to become a knight, or to helplessly follow Don Quixote about in his search and demand for chivalry across the land. Its just pure and simple fun. |
