Dreamcast or PlayStation?
|
Okay, question for late-90s gaming enthusiasts. A local used game store offers a PSX for $25 and a Dreamcast for $50. Both offer the essential cables and one controller. So, which one would you go with? I'm looking forward to the PlayStation's RPGs (particularly Chrono Cross and Legend of Legaia), but I'm also a big fan of Capcom fighters, and I'd also be open to trying some arcadey driving games (Crazy Taxi). Also, to anyone who happens to know this game, which version of Hydro Thunder would you prefer? I used to play the PSX version back in the day and loved it, but 64 offers 4-player and DC improved graphics...

I remembered playing Hydro Thunder in a arcade machine some years ago. The arcade was demolished. I had like thousands of those ticket things that you could trade in for toys. I got the highscore on some machines even and got like 500 trade-in tickets for toys and more arcade coins. It's all gone now though. I think the Nintendo 64 version of Hydro Thunder would be funner if you had some friends play with you, it's always funner that way. I can only vaguely remember ships, crazy courses, ramps, and some levels but I wish I had that game, it was awesome, I knew all the shortcuts, back then. The arcade machine is probably broken into pieces and lying in a dump with other old school games. |

Well, I would probably go with the Dreamcast because I already have a PS, but also, the Dreamcast had better graphics for its time (IMO) |

The Dreamcast has always been my favorite. Though it didn't have as many games, I found the ones it had to be much more fun and memorable. It was the most fun I ever had with video games. I'm very quickly losing interest in my next-gen consoles. |

If this battle had the Dreamcast against the PS2, Dreamcast would win all the way. But it's the PlayStation against the Dreamcast instead. So considering that the PS survived for 10 years with a huge amount of classic games, such as Final Fantasy 7, Gran Turismo, & Tomb Raider, pick the PlayStation. |
