I have a question about going to college and jobs....

well first of all i wanna talk about jobs... im currently going to graduate highschool in a month and a half, im 18. if i ever do get a job, it will be my very first job. I tried applying to retail stores like wal-mart and best buy and stuff like that, but once i told my mom that i was applying to those stores, she said that i cant apply to those stores. she said that i have to work my way down here first like applying to fast food restuarants instead, i told her on my first job you dont really need to start from there and go up later as you want other jobs... so to get everything straight, she says that in order to work at retail stores, i need to work at places like fast food places first... is that true? because she was shocked that i cant get my first job working at a retail store... and i said thats bull... so anyways i was wondering can i work at a retail store for my first job because im really into electronics and stuff so yea.... i need one before summer starts... and college, does anyone know a video game college that i can go to in california after high school? because my major is to be a game designer for any kind of field in the industry... ive tried searching for those colleges but there out of state and my dad wants me to go to a college in california... so please help???

I don't see a problem with getting your first job at a retail store. What I would suggest is applying to a few different places. Apply at a fast food place but also apply at a retail store or two. If you get turned down at the retail stores you can probably fall back on the fast food place. But from what you've said, you would perfer a tretail store. You have to like your job or it really becomes a chore. I'm not too sure about your college question. |

What was basically my first job was at Wal-Mart, as a cashier. I say basically because I had had a work study at college the year semester before that, but didn't mention that on my wal-mart application. |

i want to go to a video game design school around in california, i cant go to colleges out of state, like i said, dad is kinda tripping these days so yeah. ive tried seaching for those schools near around my area as close as possible but can't find any... i think im not looking hard enough.. |
