I won't say if one was easier than the other, but personally I found the Science section of the ACT really crappy. It seemed to have little to do with science and everything to do with constantly reading stupid graphs.

I did best in that section. Science typically involves interpreting such things. 8P

I wanted to take the ACT, but the SAT was way too frickin' long and completely destroyed all such ambitions. Besides, I did okay on the SAT's, so I didn't really need to take the ACT.

I took only the ACT, 'cause my school of choice didn't need both.

I took both. I didn't find one to be any harder than the other. They both involve the same things, except for the ACT's science section which is different but not particularly hard.
