The Shining Shadow Mercenaries, The First Meeting
|
The Ispen castle, on the inside a shining world of crystal and a maze of false walls, but on the outside, a black and monstrous outlook with gargoyles along its walls and heavily armored Minotaurs guarding the only entrance to the castle. The grounds surrounding the castle expand ten or so yards in every direction from the castle, making the grounds circular, the ends completely cutting off into the dense forest in which it resides. Within the Evil forest there are few places in which the sky isn’t clear, the moon giving the only supply of light, though the trees usually block it from ever reaching the floor on which people walk. The castle grounds were no exception, though it didn’t make seeing the top of the castle any easier. It seemed to rise past the heavens themselves, and only members of the Ispen family have ever gone above the first five floors. It wasn’t forbidden to do so, but going any higher almost made death certain as much of the castle has gone unexplored, even by those currently living inside it. On the first floor was seemingly nothing but a grand crystal lobby, an empty square façade, but this was only an illusion. In the center of this room was a throne, obsidian and silver of color and covered with designs of dragons and demons. All around the room were statues and pillars that could only be noticed after looking at the certain spot twice, making strangers worry or feel a bit of anxiousness as the room changed around them. Looking upwards, one would initially see nothing, the ceiling too far up to see, but upon looking a second time; one would then see a stairway that led to a balcony like walkway all around the walls, making a second floor. This second floor opened into a hallway leading to guest rooms and rooms of the denizens of the castle. The rest of the castle lay hidden in the walls. Some panels of crystal would move away when touched, or when a certain spell was cast, or when attacked with a certain weapon. Only members of the Ispen family open these hidden doors without filling the requirements needed for others to open these panels, but even they are often confused as to which door will lead where. The third and fourth floors are completely empty. These two floors are nothing but a large maze leading absolutely nowhere with moving doors, changing walls, and other unfair maneuvers that almost guarantee that whomever enters those floors will not come out. Finally, on the fifth floor, this can only be reached either by somehow solving the maze below or using the secret elevator that can only be unlocked by those of the Ispen family, lays the Room of Meeting. This room is soundproof, has a magical expelling and insulating field, and can’t even be neared without permission as already mention. It is where all meetings involving the Ispen Kingdom and the Ispen family take place. There are more rooms of mention underneath the first floor, and one could attempt to learn of the infinite floors beyond the fifth, but it is the Room of Meeting that is of concern at the moment. Today was the day for Kadash’s first meeting since his return, and all of his most loyal and devoted subjects were to meet with him. The Room of Meeting walls were black and thick, filled with magical splendor and physical endurance for whatever negotiations were to occur in that room. Even the powers of the Ispens were dramatically diminished within the Room of Meeting, and that’s how Kadash liked it, with everyone on equal terms. The room was small, with only a large circular table and at least twenty comfortably large cushioned chairs going all around it. Kadash and his subjects sat down to begin their meeting. Kadash stands at 6'0 with straight black hair reaching to the bottom of his shoulders and black eyes, which glow black with power. He wears black robes laced with gold and a pearl cape also laced in gold. A white sash crossing his middle, tightened to fit his skinny but muscled frame. He also wears black boots to match his robe along with block gloves, making his once pitch black appearance almost similar to his current form. Kadash is the King of the Ispen Kingdom which was once a beautiful but treacherous forest before his father, Kaju, burned his kingdom to the ground and created the Shadow Empire in its place. Kadash's name is scattered throughout history as a demon, an ally, a force of destruction, a mysterious shadow, a wiseman, a death god, and world dominator as far back as 12,007 human years. Today, very few know anything about him and even fewer know how to kill him or even the extent of his powers. Only one thing is for certain, he has returned. Inigo stood over 6’0 tall with silvery grey eyes and short black hair. He wore a sleeveless leather shirt with the Ispen Insignia on the front and back, along with forest green pants and black leather boots. Inigo is Kadash’s oldest son, and although he seems to be only about 20, he is nearing his 3,000th birthday. Inigo has no soul and no heart, just like his father, which makes him a genome. Unlike his father, however, Inigo has no passion for magic and even rejected the crown when his chance came. Inigo is a smithy, the best in the world, and is the only one on Earth that is able to smith Tetran crystal or rainbow shells. Inigo is a master at any weapon he makes, even if he doesn’t really like to fight.

Corbash the neko stood 5’9 with silver fur. He wore a black vest and pants with two gold rings at the end of his long tail. He also had a small knife embedded into the tip of his tail, like outward like a scorpion stinger. He wore spiked gauntlets that matched his fur so well, that it seemed like he was bare handed with spikes on his knuckles. Corbash is, however, headstrong and jokes when things are serious, in fact, he jokes and clowns about 12/7. He has a unique quality though, he is able to become invisible and can turn anything he wishes into a killing instrument. He is the perfect thief, and is a hired assassin and has hidden somewhere on his body thousands of various knives. He is untraceable, untrackable, and uncatchable. These characteristics make him practically unkillable, and he’s especially crafty. He cares little about money, but with the right motivation, he is the ultimate killing machine. Shakron neko stood 5’9 with silver fur. Other than his fur, the only clothing he wore was a white lab coat and gloves and two golden rings at the end of his long tail. He also had a small knife embedded into the tip of his tail, like outward like a scorpion stinger. Shakron is Corbash’s brother and Kadash’s best scientist. Unlike his brother, Shakron is shy by nature and doesn’t get too close to those he meets right away. Shakron has worked in the science field, making poisons for his brother while Corbash brings back “finances” for Shakron to continue his experiments. When Corbash met Kadash, he immediately asked if a scientist was needed and Kadash gave his approval and made a gigantic laboratory for him underneath the castle. Now, with all the money he needs and Zorn and Thorn doing all of his buying and selling, it’s a rarity indeed to see Shakron outside of one of his many labs scattered throughout the world. Keys was once a captain himself, known throughout the Spanish Main as Captain Skeleton Keys for his clothing looked like they belonged to one long dead, tattered and grey. In its many pockets were compasses, maps, notes, and his most valued treasure, the book called "The Pirate CODE", it was his bible as some say. On his sides were two swords, on the right was the blue blade called "Dutchman" and on his left was a sword made from human bones, the "Skeleton Key". On his back was a large golden lance called the "Spirit Lance". The Spirit lance was the weapon of choice for Davvy Jones himself as it had the power to summon and control the dead. He was a merciless captain in his day, but kept to the Code at every step. He has risen from Davvy's Locker to once again be a pirate. Scerix stood at 6’0 with long white hair and piercing red eyes. He wore black robes that covered his slender body, with white rims on it to give a twilight sort of look, the standard uniform for priests of the Vatican. Scerix is of a unique race called crusnik, meaning that he is a vampire whom feeds on other vampires. As vamps suck the blood of humans, a crusnik sucks the blood of vamps in turn. Scerix carries the standard weapon of a crusnik, an enormous red scythe riddled with large spikes, which is hidden when not in use. Scerix is the most trusted advisor of Lord Kadash, but feels no obligations to serve him. He acts merely as a consultant of his and refuses to help anyone without a mind sharper than their blade. Not much is known about Morn as he keeps his body hidden behind a cloak. His eyes are covered by bandages like a blindfold, the left side always fresh with blood, as if his eyes had just been gouged out. Mostly, he keeps his hood up and is relaxed and calm almost to the point of being annoying, but when serious, lets down his hood to reveal his long, straight black hair that goes down to his mid-back. He carries the weapon Cesta-Sody, which looks like a katana but can, in fact, change shape into other weapons. Zorn stood at around 3’0 with blue robes striped vertically with white and a white tuxedo around his torso. His shoes were small and pointed and curved upward with bells on their end. He also wore a hat that had the same striped blue-white pattern. His face was painted white with blue surrounding his eyes and blue lines where his eyebrows should’ve been. Zorn is a sneaky jester and marketer under command of his master, Lord Kadash. He is, in truth, a mere manifestation of power, a created servant with excessive power that his lord gave him to attend to various tasks many would consider “dirty work”. His power bases on ice and water, giving him the nickname, ‘The Tundra Freezer’. Thorn stood at around 3’0 with red robes striped vertically with white and a white tuxedo around his torso. His shoes were small and pointed and curved upward with bells on their end. He also wore a hat that had the same striped red-white pattern. His face was painted white with red surrounding his eyes and red lines where his eyebrows should’ve been. Thorn is a sneaky jester and marketer under command of his master, Lord Kadash. He is, in truth, a mere manifestation of power, a created servant with excessive power that his lord gave him to attend to various tasks many would consider “dirty work”. His power bases on fire and heat, giving him the nickname, ‘The Hellfire Blazer’. Xujzujeh is an ancient being created by Kadash in his early years before the Necromancer Wars. He was created out of Shadomancery into the form of an adult sized pitch black wolf, but with the intelligence of a genome and the growing powers of a dragon. Today, Xujzujeh has once again found his master and protects him like a guard dog and loyal servant. Though he seems not to have grown any older, he is now the size of a fully grown Terran dragon, making humans the size of a single claw on his paw in comparison. In the days before the Necromancer Wars, all genomes owned a creature like him, but now there are very few, if Xujzujeh is not the last, for he has met with none. All of these people sat in chairs, circling the table, with an exception to Xujzujeh who sat on the floor by Kadash, having reduced his size to just large enough to have his head equal level to everyone else. Kadash gently rapped his knuckles on the hard wood of the table. “Very well, now that everyone is here, we shall begin the first Ispen meeting of the year. |

Wise old Zoran nodded and pulled out a large scroll from beneath his robes. "Well, According to the last few reports and orders coming in to us, The most immediate concern to us is Lord Strife and his lover. The High Seraph has agreed to pay the Ispen Kingdom to, and I quote," Send our ten best to kill Lord Strife, his lover, and his child". Since that time, we sent Morn, the Shadow Incarnate and Shakron, the Mad Scientist to deliver tracking spells to the three and if possible, kill them. Morn was sucessful in placing a tracking spell on Lord Strife, but was injured in battle and allowed the culprits to escape. Shakron has sent three clone-like organisms to mark the woman and child, but the results are still inconclusive as to whether this ploy is successful." Zoran then closed the scroll and placed it on the table, indicating that he was finished with introducing the first topic. |

Morn remembered that day well. His wounds had healed quickly enough, but the scar of being defeated so easily hadn't. He didn't see it as fair. This Lord Strife barely had to make an attempt, and when Morn had prepared to fight fully, Lord Stife had cheated Morn out of his fight and escaped. Morn had known his share of evil and hate, but Lord Strife had practically insulted him by escaping from him and Morn silently promised himself that he would pay. Morn turned to Kadash and placed his hand on the table. "Very well, if this is our first topic, let's get it under way. What do you think, Kadash?" |

Kadash thought for a moment before sighing. "Unfortunately, we know next to nothing about our target. I would never bother with these people if it were not for the fact that I owe the High Seraph a favor. Still, we need to know more about our enemy." Kadash then turned to Corbash and nodded. "Corbash, go to them in your harmless form and stay with them." |

Corbash nodded boredly. "yeah sure, alright. These people don't seem that different from Kara and Todd, I shouldn't have too much of a problem with them." Corbash yawned and put his paw on the table. "Until then, I think just Morn and my bro should get at'em, just too keep'em on their toes, ya know?" |
