I recently read an article, well actualy I didn't read it I just looked at the cover of the magazine it was in because they wrap them in plastic now. It was an article on video game design not being "Art" and in a way I agree but I also disagree. There are so many aspects of game design, and I'll be damned if a game concept artist is not artistic. I belive that game design is 25% artistic thinking and 25% teamwork, and 50% Work or somthing like that. I think that visulization is more important than artistic ability. I have been making up fantasy worlds and games since I was a kid. From the most basic designs and concepts to entire worlds of balance and form. I wouldn't call myself an artist because although I can draw Japanimation it is more a means to an end than the end itself. I learned to be artistic because I wanted to learn to create worlds. In the process I also learned how to write and articulate my thoughts as well as visualize and conceptulize. I came to the conclusion that it all comes down to "Does this fit?" does this fit the: Market,People,Vision is this a blanced package. In other words, will this boat float? I think Hideo Kojima is a master visionary business man, but is not vision the root of all "Art"
