Hmm... I wonder when the last time I've posted this tip... ah well, no harm on redoing it now is there? Anyway, most people will know what this tip is already... however, since GameTalk get's newer people possibly every month, I am going to post a tip that'll be helpful to them should they get banned and dont know what to do. ...Well, it's obviously known that should you get banned, you go to the [complaints] forum and ask why your banned right? However, do you know what BANS you've been hit by? With this tip, you'll know which one it is!! they are: Name Ban - a ban that normally bans the username that you are currently using from posting in that forum. Normally given to you for doing small bad things... so, it's not a thing to worry about. Either switch to a different username to bypass it... or, just wait the ban out and request in Complaints to have that banned name lifted. NOTE: If your name wasn't appropriate in that forum, you will not get it lifted. IP Ban - a Ban that bans your IP (Internet Protocal) address from posting in that paticular forum that you are posting from. A IP ban is a ban that's often given out in forums like Pointless or Duh... and it's mostly stuff like repeative swearing, cybering, spamming which'll earn you a IP ban. Either use a proxy to bypass it... or, just wait the ban out and when the time is up, you head over to Complaints and REQUEST for your IP to be unbanned in that forum you are banned in. Range ban - currently have no data on this. Global Ban - a ban that bans your IP address from posting on GameTalk. This is a ban that's normally given out by higher up's if you are caught doing stuff which you shouldn't be doing (ie: HEAVY flooding in multiple forums, impersonations... or, illegial access to Mod only forums). They aren't pernament... however, getting hit with a Global Ban really is a pain as you cannot make a post in GameTalk at all. Either switch to a different proxy to bypass it... write an e-mail to GameTalk's help thingy and ask why your banned... or, wait the ban out altogether. AOL Glitch - Only happens to people that are currently using AOL (duh). Not a lot is known about it as the only thing known about it is that you are unable to make post in forums... yet, you are able to make replies in people's posts. This glitch can be fixed. ISP Ban - a ban that'll normally have your ISP contacted and them taking your internet-connection off from you. In the past, I believe this was a ban that was normally given out to people that hacked Mod accounts and tried to cause trouble with it. Mike or anyother Moderator would contact your ISP (Internet Service provider) and should they be given evidence, they'll dis-connect you from the internet. Either switch to a different computer (that would have a different internet Exploerer), or just wait the ban out altogether. I think that's all about the tips. |

Yes this has been posted before, but by whoever, it makes a compelling read. I think a range ban is a ban where your IP gets global ban and so does other people's IP's which are similar to yours. It's the most ridiculous ban ever considering innocent people can be cuaght up in them. And they casn never get to use GT again because Mods never remember global bans and there's no way the victim can request for an unban if he's banned form the whole site, so the only way to fix this is to get a new computer altogether with a hopefully different IP. And I still wonder why your ISP would care about some random site being harmed, I mean they could be dealing with much worse things, like big sites like google getting hacked, than a small (let's be honest deserted) forum getting harmed. |
