As many as you feel comfortable with, or makes you work up a sweat. Start easy, 10-20 and see how that feels. Then progressively make the workout more challenging. You should alternate excersises because you're muscles will get used to it and you won't make much progress. |

As far as general exercises, just running is good. Unfortunately, the kind that is really helpful to your health is the kind that takes a treadmill and a TV to accomplish, or some serious will power. I hate running, I want to shoot myself when I have to run a mile. Otherwise, just do exercises like push ups, curls, ect in an order than you can feel it in your muscles. Like dragon said, doing the same thing over and over wont help for long. |

"Like dragon said, doing the same thing over and over wont help for long." That's kind of ironic. Do you think Michael Jordan became the Basketball legend he is known as today because he play Croquet? |

You can't compare a sport like basketball to weight training that way.. |

Why couldn't you? It fits the analogy perfectly. In order to excel at anything one must set forth the time and effort necessary to allow for growth. If one does not, then there will be no results. The same goes between a sport like basketball and weight lifting. You cannot become a great basketball player or great weight lifter without holding yourself to a high level and moving forward. Both activities require dedication on the part of the athlete for sure. If you don't weight lift over and over, how do you expect to gain any muscle, obtain a tone body, or what have you? Obviously, by not weight lifting, you aren't going to magically have a six pack. |

Staryu, just stop. You are being ignorant, just chill and sit back and think home skillet. They were saying to not train with the push ups for all time, its a bad idea. Your CNS will grow accustomed to the push ups and you will plateau hard. Instead, he should switch it up with other pressing exercises. An analogy to fit yours, is you can't just shoot free throws to be a good basketball player. You have to do other drills to work your skills set to a better degree. |

Run. This is guessing that you're trying to loose weight and not bulk up. If that is wrong, then I do not know what to say. I am a tiny guy, don't get into the bulking up, I just keep myself in shape for soccer. :] |
