3 3squared = 9 9 + 3 = 12 12 + 41 = 53 - a prime number. |

Like you are at sarcasm. Grubber, didn't catch the multiples of 10 part, but what the heck? Did I ever concentrate on the sub-topics? Heck no, doesn't 10,000 work, who knows? Nvrmnd he got the answer, and it's strange to see you in this forum as well. |

Yah, and I guessed 10,000 just dunno if it works and cannot be bothered to work it - this is why GT should have a calculator, in fact someone has recently requested this. And why are you here? Haven't you a forum with your name on it to be going to? |

If you're allowed real numbers, you can put in a non-integer and get back a number that isn't prime, since primes are, by definition, integers. |

And 41 is also a twin prime: 43 is also a prime. So x = 1 works. I don't know why the hint was powers of 10, that's just absurd. |

and not come out prime? Pshaw, use a negative number. Try -2. :-p 4 - 1 + 41 = 44 |

Darn, now I've changed the original problem to x^2 + x/2. Where's the delete post button? |

Okay, I declare all of us idiots. The trivial answer is 41, as then (41)^2 + 41 + 41 is divisible by 41, and thus can't be prime. |
