Jedi. Because no matter how many darksiders I try to make, I can never stick with them. |

I have many different characters of many different alignments, but my main is a Jedi because my Jedi char is the one that's most important to his faction. |

No Jedi or Sith. People don't roleplay out their factions very well overall, and are often flippant and abusive with powers. I think we'd be better off if we roleplayed characters who have to rely on more everyday things, and I think we could have better storylines with people playing out non Force using factions. |

The place is called Jedi Sith, though. You can't have a Jedi Sith forum without Jedi or Sith. :P Besides, not all of us play our characters poorly. If you mean that there are a lot of Jedi who don't act like Jedi, I would agree with you that that template is overdone. But I personally use Lancer as the perfect, incorruptible Jedi. |

I agree, such factions as oh... I don't know how about maybe the Republic or Imperial Remnets, etc? |

Sith because I can get away with anything. No disapproving councils or people calling me a rogue jedi. |

Well, not perfect, but what you would think of when you think of the typical Jedi. |

I think we could instate a rule that would limit the number of force sensitive characters. Something like "If the person wants to be a jedi then the jedi council decide if the person is force sensitive and if a person wants to be sith then the Dark lord/council (whatever the case maybe) decides." |

That would only discourage people from coming here. This forum has always run better with fewer rules. |

Lol! That's true, Lancer. And, I'm with you. I like having my stereotypical Jedi character. Now, I'm using two others I'll most definitely use in the future. |

the point of the rule would be to limit how many jedi and sith there are not to completly eliminate interest, I don't think that interest in the forum would suffer from the rule. However, unless tested, we will never really know. |

People usually come here to be trained as a Jedi or a Sith, and if there are only a certain number of people allowed with Force powers, they will become frustrated and leave. I don't see any problem with there being a lot of Force-users on this forum--that is the name of the forum, after all, as I've already said. I do think they are a little overpowered, but I think we need to focus on increasing activity rather than adding more rules which may or may not have adverse effects on the forum. |

Do yourselves a favor, though. Look at the data on Wikipedia compiled on Force Users. That's a long, long list. Then look at the list compiled on non Force using things. It's a way longer list. Like, significantly, in a fashion that completely overshadows the Force using stuff. It's called Star Wars, and it's about a Galaxy far far away, and not a science fiction take on wizards and wars between mystics. There is so much culture and so many interesting factions, fifteen minutes of research on wikipedia can provide you a completely unique character who's still got a lot of backstory and can still DO a lot. There seems to be the illusion that not having the Force makes it any less fun to roleplay, but that's not the case at all. Read the Mandalore -purge post, I'm having hellish amounts of fun with that, mainly because I know a lot about the Mandalores. Sith, Jedi, all overused templates. Someone should be a Zesion Sha. Or a member of the Kel-Dor order of seers ((forget the name.)) Or one of the gun-using Jedi -- there's an order devoted to that. The Sith and Jedi are already so played out and known, I'd love to see Force Users who don't have the normal ''stuff.'' I'd like to see more originality in our forum, and I'd like to see it not only because it would allow us to do so much more justice to the universe we all love, but because it would also stop oldies from using crazy amounts of power, which I have always felt is a very disheartening and irritating factor that this forum suffers from. Even as someone who's been around for two, three years, I have a hard time appreciating battles with players who've been around a while themselves ((despite the fact I love fighting and I appreciate the challenge)) because of the way Force Powers are used. We don't need rules to bring these things into balance, we just need to collectively make an effort to all do something NEW and exciting, rather than falling back on the same old factional tropes that have made this forum predominately comprised of members who've had time to consolidate their crazy elitist Jedi and Sith characters. |

This forum has, from its conception, been about the ordeals of Jedi and Sith. It was only after it started to attract attention and become more active that other characters were used, and I do think they add to the forum. I'm not saying that a little diversity is a bad thing. But right now, we really don't have enough people to really have strong third factions, and I don't see what's so wrong with the Jedi and Sith. EVERYONE knows what they are, and so no one is at a disadvantage when they don't know much about that faction. The Zeishon Sha, the Kel Dor things, even the Mandalorians, are along the fringes of the Jedi Sith universe; no one really knows very much about them, so they aren't motivated to join those organizations. What I do enjoy is when we create our own separate groups. When I first came here, we had the Blackmoon, which was a collection of neutrals led by Orphen. It was a good idea, but it faded as the forum started to regress because there were simply not just enough people. I realize you have many characters and feel that you can balance them out fairly well. Good for you. But I also have multiple characters, and I often find that I have to neglect many at the expense of others. I often have to make a choice about which character I'm going to post at, and that post will come at the expense of the other characters. I enjoy developing my characters, and it's hard to do that when I have so many. I personally stay away from large amounts of power, and whenever I find myself in a battle situation, I tend to rely upon cleverness and skill rather than power. Most oldies, despite what you might think, tend to do the same because they know that the experience they have gathered will probably carry them to victory anyways. On the other hand, I have no problem with a third faction. I've tried to start one several times, but my partners always left, or I didn't have enough interest. I just think you're asking a little much of this forum when it's just starting to get up on its feet. I would like to see a Bounty Hunter's Guild reinstated, though--in fact, my Hunter had a facility constructed on Corellia for a new BHG. |

There are heaps of factions, and there are reasonable opportunities to give rise to at least five or six, if one is headed by each oldy, which could add a lot of diversity to our forum. I wouldn't mind seeing the Mandalorian Crusade. Or an uprising in illegal activity on the organized crime scale. Or an attempt to instate an actual government that wasn't NPC's on Coruscant. |

As I said, no problem with a third-party faction, but I think it's ambitious for a forum that's still on shaky legs. A criminal thing would be pretty cool, I'll give you that, but how many would join? Governments always end up just being targets...though Ket Jia had the Jedi federation thing which had non-Force users heading it up. |

By the way, there was a Zeison Sha once. Icarus...but the idea never caught on. We've had the Shimmuran Monks for a while, though I don't know if they're still active. |

We are shaky only if we need to be. These states of mind are defined by your own convictions; on a forum of roleplay, the only limit to the possibilities are constraints of time and agreement. Time isn't even so much a factor with good planning and human interest -- the desire to make things happen. If I wanted to establish a core government for Coruscant badly enough, I have no doubt that I could do it in a fun, realistic, and plausible way, and rule it in a way that would increase enjoyment for the forum to all. Or that anyone else could -- if they had sufficient human interest as well as planning, which really are not as rare as people think. People can do amazing things, easily, if only they realize their own potential and decide to do something. |

As I said, the biggest problem is maintaining interest in something like that...and attracting people who actually have the time to do something like that. Let's face it, it takes two to tango, and one person alone isn't going to be able to do something like that unless someone joins him/her. That's why I made my "challenge" post--because I realized that without other people to help me, there's no way to revive the forum. |

Indeed. A good post, by the way; if you want, we can discuss some of these things further. If you have suggestions to improve the forum that you would like my assisstance with, I think I could probably help. I've got free time and I'm a big SW fan :P AIM is Ihinzial. |

Well, I don't have free time this week. AP tests tomorrow and Thursday, as well as one next Friday V_V It wasn't a good idea to become more active this week...but I guess I'm too lazy to study, anyways. ;P If I'm still alive after the test tomorrow, I'll IM you. I'm about to get off tonight, though. |
