When you meet that very special stranger you meet online, and without knowing a single thing about them, you declare marriage. That's true love, baby. |

LOVE is a word that is used incorrectly 99% of times it is spoken. Love is the unconditional and unending longing to be near someone, to make them smile and feel pleasant because of things that you do, and to care for them and protect them. I'm still trying to separate love from possession. It's difficult. |

Love is not so define-able. It's more AND less than what Narry posted. Do you love your parents the same way you love your significant other? Your pets? Your friends? your pasttimes? |

Very true. The definition I gave is my recent thinking on significant other love. |

Gotcha. Makes sense. Separating love from possession....as in possessiveness of the other person involved? Like jealousy? IDK, I've been fortunate enough to be with a strong, intelligent woman so it's easy for me to 'let her do her thang' knowing that she will never keep me from doing what I want to do (within reason...no need to get into semantics JUST yet in this thread). I have had jealous moments in the past, but it's more like 'protective' moments, really. There was an old acquaintance of hers who had never come forward and taken his chance with her. Well, he started calling at 2 in the morning, probably drunk and pining for her. One polite but firm voicemail from he (with her permission) and the dude never called back. |

I mean in it both a jealousy sort of way and a... Dunno how to explain it... The broadest sense of possessiveness. Like... Being able to love someone without being with them often, just loving them for who they are, what they are, what they do... Without necessarily getting anything back. Not as in loving someone who DOESN'T love you back, but loving unconditionally so that... Heck, I can't explain it. I give up. |
