How do I get starter and rules...
|
Hello, everyone. I'm new to this particular forum, and I've seen a lot of interesting role playing. No, I've never role-played on Gametalk before and I was wondering how I get started, and what's the proper posting etiquette and so forth. I've only read The Hobbit, FOTR, and the Two Towers, so I know a good bit about most things. So, how do I get started? Thank you all so much!

Ahh a new comer! It salways good to see people come here. I'll give you a sort of loose overview of everyone here. Everyone please elaborate though because I don't know as much about you as I do myself. Felexi- the enigmatic, handsome, awesome, big ego, but awesome person who rules(ok so I'm not any of those things). I love the works of Tolkien, and I love this forum. Dofin- A real oldie, hes been here for a long time. Cool dude, also loves this forum. Dincuivie- He started around the smae time as me, hes the one who organized that rules site for us, loves the forum. Arzun- Good RPer, knows how to write well, I personally have not had many Character encounters with him, loves the forum. -Writer- Solid RPer truly, have not known him for to long. He prefers fighting posts, and hes talented in them, loves the forum. Krios- Interesting post writer, mainly has an assassin character, and loves the forum. Mianar- A Runescape player who comes here in his spare time(when hes not playing RS). Very nice guy though, loves the forum. Turin- well what can I say, that kid is A.D.D., my best friend, and someone who is always thinking of weird and strange things to do, whihc I mainly dissuade him form doing for sake of the forum, he does love the forum though. Casalis- An Oldie that returned a little while ago. From what I know hes a good RPer and can always give a good performance. well From what I can remember these are the forum regulars. unfortuantly we are in a lull, Yet at the time we are also slowly coming back. We have been slightly more active, and I hope to get Turin(the current darklord) to do SOMETHING. Sorry people if I misinterpreted you! |

Hey, good to see someone new. To start out you have two main optoins. Using both would probably be the best. The most conventional way to begin would be to make a profile for your character. A good name is important. It doesn't need to be Elvish if you don't want it to be(some of us are just nerds like that) but make sure it's still "Middle-earth-ish." Also in your profile you may include your race, appearance(include age and attire if you wish), background/history, possessions, and personality. This is all explained on the rules site: middle-earth-forum.tripod.com The next thing that would be a good idea to do is make an "entrance post" as we call them. Basically it is your first official IC (In Character) post. -For OOC, (or Out Of Charcter) comments in a roleplay, use double parenthesis around them. ((like this))- Give some background on your character, some recent history, and what he is up to at the moment and in the near future. Generally people don't respond to entrance posts but it's still allowed. Once you've done either or both of these you may begin roleplaying. You can claim a land if you wish(see the rules site for unclaimed lands.) and an artifact.(Your land and artifact claiming may be done in your entrance post.) It is recomended that you don't begin a lot of new roleplays until people here are familiar with you, although you may if you wish. Start by joining other peoples. Those are the basics. Just ask if you need anything else answered. And to the rest of you, my appologies for not being on a lot recently. I got my new computer and I've been having a lot of fun lately doing stuff that my old computer couldn't handle. I'll be back soon. |

And if anyone plays Runcescape, you can add Angainor2. lol, I'm still sort of nooby. I haven't played this game steadily since RS Classic went members only. Since then I've played on and off when I could use someone else's computer so I'm not doing too bad. Still not where I was in RSC though... |

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! I'll go check out the site, learn some stuff, then make an entrance post. This is a new thread right? Not just a reply on an already-made post? Thanks! Now... Who to be... |

Also, on the website, anything on the lands/artifacts can be claimed? Only one, right? And what do the numbers mean? Plus, I'm still confused about the whole 'troops' thing. Sorry to be a bother now, but I'd rather be one now, than in the future, when I'm RPing. |

Also, I can make my own items/possesions, right? I mean, I know I can't make my own land, but I can have my own thing, right? I think that's it, now... |

Of course. There are limitations to making your making though. Like it no gunpowder, no futuristic things, etc. keep it medieval. I don't know if your talking about this thing we're posting in or what, but yes we have threads and in-thread posts. The (3) and (1) stuff, all that. Each one of those numbers is the ratio of troops you will have in battle. Say one country has a ratio of 3 and another of 1. That means one country can have 3000 troops and the other can have 1000 in battle, or 300 vs. 100. You see how that works? I think I explained it right... |
