OMG Ironman is the BEST Marvel movie yet. Better than Spiderman, Hulk, Dare Devil, FREAKIN EVERYONE! I was just expecting just another so, so Marvel movie like Dare Devil, or Elektra, but man this was awesome from start to finish! |

I saw it. And I pleasure me in ways not thought possible. I'm talking about orgasms. Better than Spider-Man, not better than Spider-Man 2 or Batman Begins. |

It was better than all the Spider-man movies. Not sure about Batman Begins. I think, hmmm...I'm going to sort of just free write this here...I think Batman Begins is overall a better movie, but I thought Iron Man was more comic book-y and it really kicked off the whole Marvel Universe in film thing. They're very similar films in many ways, but also very different. It's easily the best Marvel film, and it definitely sets up a bright future of Marvel films. It did a great job, I thought, of making it feel like a comic book. |

Okay, I don't get this. I loved Iron Man as much as the next guy, but comparing it to Batman Begins? Insane. And people are saying Best Comic-book Movie? V for Vendetta, anyone? And why is it that this last year or so everyone turned against Spider-Man? Everyone LOVED him back before 3 came out (Rotten Tomatoes has 90% positive ratings!) What's with all the Spidey-bashing? That being said, Iron Man IS in my top five comic-based movies. At slot number Four. |

Ugh, V for Vendetta was awful. The Wachowski brothers need to stop making movies, and Hollywood needs to stop converting those stories that are perfect as comics (V for Vendetta, Watchmen, Y: The Last Man, for example). Those stories are different from say, Batman or Spider-man or Iron Man movies. But V for Vendetta is definitely not the best comic book movie. It's not the worst, if only for Hugo Weaving, but otherwise, I thought the Director's Cut of Daredevil was better. Iron Man was up there with Batman Begins. Batman Begins, as awesome as it is, did have some problems with it. I think Iron Man is up there with it, but it's close. I'd give Batman Begins the edge because I did feel that it was an overall better film, plus, Christian Bale. But I did feel that Iron Man was a more comic booky film than Begins. Iron Man is definitely the best Marvel movie. The thing about the Spider-man movies is that yeah, the first two are all right, but there was also this shock and awe of seeing Spider-man web slinging on a giant screen. Once that wears out though, you start to realize that they're terribly cast (save JK Simmons as JJJ), terribly acted, and pretty poorly directed films. |

Okay, I'm thinking that further debate on this is going to be pointless. If you thought Daredevil was better than V for Vendetta, then our tastes in films are so radically different that they will probably never be reconciled. That being said, at least we can all agree on how much inferrior The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was when compared to the comics. ^_^ (btw, I agree with you on JK Simmons. The only other casting choice I will defend is Willem Defoe. Every other lead actor I could pretty much leave or keep, w/e) |

V For Vendetta was OK at best. It had some good elements, but far too much was changed from the source, and as it was a short series rather than a several-decade-spanning serial, a smaller change means a lot more. While I did enjoy V For Vendetta, I found myself agreeing with Alan Moore for a lot of it. Shouldn't have been made the way it did. As for Daredevil, the theatrical cut was sub-par, yes, but the Director's Cut is fantastic and well worth checking out, and yes, it puts it above V For Vendetta. Although Iron Man still beats it out. Iron Man is definitely the best Marvel movie as yet, and the best comic book movie since Batman Begins. |

Now see, the odd thing is that I liked the V movie MORE than the source material. I found the oringinal comics to be rather unweildy, and occasionally convoluted. I agree that the film lost a lot of the "British" quality that helped make V for Vendetta so great, and it would most certainly have been better for it, but I found the changes in plot actually helped make the story more relatable than the comics. Heck, I doubt I even would have read the comics if not for the movie. The trick is to treat them as two separate stories, not a story and adaptation. If you can take the mental step back and watch the film without any major bias, it is, in my opinion if not in fact, the best of the current comic-based movies, (although Batman Begins is a close second) Maybe that's why I can enjoy the Spider-Man movies more than most comic fans I know. The film was my introduction to the character, so I didn't have that unsatisfiable-fanboy mind-set. In the long run, I think this helps, because now I can enjoy the comics AND movies, without feeling that the latter did not live up to the former. Rather, I am nicely surprised by the former in fact SURPASSING the latter. And that's probably why I liked Iron Man less than most of you. That "more comic-booky" feel that Sufjan describes is lost on me, having never read and Iron Man comics. Thus, I see it only as a film, and, although it was good, there are at least two or three more comic-based movies that I would say are superior. Also, I'm PRETTY sure that was the version of Daredevil I saw. Not sure though. I rented it a long time ago... |

I dunno...if you say you like the more relatable terms for these sorts of movies, then if you really think Daredevil was bad it must've been the Theatrical and not the Director's. Just a hunch I'm going on |
