here are my mephing tips. i use a sorc for mfing so some of my tips will only apply to a sorc. listen to music when you meph. this one's pretty crucial. mephing can get frustrating if you die or if you get crappy items over and over, i prefer calmer music rather than something heavy when i meph.if you die on the way to meph, don't try to get your corpse; you will probably lose more xp by the time you get your corpse. just quit out and go to the next game.know when to stop. if you're frustrated with items not being good, just stop mephing. you aren't having fun, and the point of this game is to have fun, so just do something else.if you are lagging, by all means DO NOT meph. this is by far the most frustrating thing possible. you will probably lose lot's of xp and gold and time, plus it's just plain FRUSTRATING! go do something else.use the little arches on the side of the room to trip up meph. this helps a lot because he is constantly trying to find his way and gets stuck in the arches which lets you throw some spells at him fast.if you're weak, use the moat trick. it's safe and fast enough, especially if you are a blizz or meteor sorc. if you are orb, it will take a while, but when you get stronger just fight him without the moat trick.weave back and forth a lot. some people tele when they meph, but i don't have a mouse wheel so i just run around. meph tends to sometimes stay in one place and shoot spells at you if you keep moving, so just weave back and forth, shooting a spell every time you stop.avoid the counsel members at all costs. if necessary, teleport away from meph and kill the counsel members by themselves, counsel members make the fight against meph much harder, unlike blood lords who barely affect the run at all.hope these tips help, i just use them as a guideline whenever i meph. just remember, diablo 2 is made to have fun, so don't overdo anything. |

Heh, good call on the music. I have winamp on behind Diablo. But an amendment to one of your tips: If you're weak, do NM meph, who drops several good items (and key ones like vipermagi and occulus), until you can move onto the real McCoy. Meph is simple for all types of sorc. Move around him (in a rough radius) and attack when he does. I tend to go back and forth in a semi-circle, because as an ice sorc I could do without the blood lords at the back. For Meteor sorcs, the main thing is to not alter your distance from meph. For Orb sorcs, try standing just outside the range of Meph's nova, it's the range where orb will explode inside his guts. |
