Some of you might think that making an MF barb is plain stupid as they are ridiculously slower than a sorc. However, setting the speed aside, the barb is in many ways superior. He can carry more MF than the sorc and he has no problem with immunities like the sorc does occasionally.
The Build:
The stats should be spread out like the usual way, as much Strength and Dexterity you need to equip your items and everything else goes into Vitality. None in Energy.
As for the skills, put 20 in Battle Orders, 20 in Concentration,20 in whatever Mastery (I highly recommend sword because most weapons with high MF {Ali-Baba, 6-Ist Colossus Blade/Phase Blade} are swords), 5-20 in Shout, 5 in Find Item, 1 in Berserk, 1 in Wirlwind, 1 in all prerequisites for these skills and do whatever you want with the rest.
The Items:
Items I will spread into 3 different categories going by price.
For the rich: Enigma (the MF and the teleport make this a must), Breath of the Dying and Stormshield as primary weapons and dual 6-Isted Phase/Colossus Blade or dual 2-Isted Ali Baba swords as secondary. Goldwrap for belt, 35-40% Chance guards, 40-50% War Travs. For rings get a Raven Frost (Cannot Be Frozen mod) and a perfect Nagelring or wear 2 Nagelrings if you already have the "Cannot Be Frozen" mod somewhere else. Ptopaz Shako for the helm and 35 MF amulet. Get yourself a Gheeds charm with 35-40% MF and any other additional charms you may want.
For the normal players: Skullders with Ptopaz, MF amulet, Raven Frost and Nagelring, Chance guards (whatever % you can get your hands on) and War Travs, Goldwrap and Ptopaz Shako. Use the same technique with the weapons except use whatever weapon that you can kill with as a primary (Lightsaber, Grandfather, Djinn Slayer, Razors Edge, etc...) and dual Ali-Baba swords as secondary. Get yourself Gheeds and any other charms you might want to load up on. If you have any trouble affording these items, refer to the poor build below.
And lastly, for the poor: Get a Wyrmhide or whatever armor you can find with high defense and stick in 4 Perfect Topaz's in it. Get Tarnhelm with Ptopaz, 3 Ptopazed helm, or a Stealskull with Ptopaz as a helm. Goldwrap for a belt (even if you're the bottom of the barrel poor, you shouldn't have a problem affording this) and any rare boots or gloves with MF you can find. As primary you should wear any sword/axe/mace you can kill with. Rare ones are no problem. Get any rare shield with high blocking and/or resists or better yet, get Mosers and put 2 Perfect Diamonds in it. Get any one handed MF swords/axes/maces you can as secondary. If you can afford Gheeds or any other MF charms, then get them but dont crowd your inventory up.
The mercenary:
Having a powerful mercenary is absolutely essential to an MF barb. Get an Act 2 Might mercenary (Nightmare, Offensive) and give him some good ethereal gear, as they dont lose durability when equipped by mercenaries. MF on the mercenary isn't necessary but get some if you want. He should be wearing any armor with high defense and +life (eth Shaftstop, upgraded or not, is the PERFECT armor) and same goes with the helm (ethereal Vampire Gaze = Godly Mercenary Helm). There are lots of choices for weapons you can give him, but I would recommend one of the following: Ethereal Bonehew with 2 Amn Runes, or Ethereal Tomb Reaver with 3 Amn Runes or Ethereal Reapers Toll. He should have a significant amount of defense, life leech, DR and damage if you followed what I said.
If you can't afford anything I mentioned, get some rare items with +life and high defense and any weapon with high damage and Life Leech and you're good to go.
Strategy and where you should MF:
Levels: For any MF character it is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL to be at LEAST level 80. Don't say I didn't warn you.
When facing boss monsters like Mephisto or Andariel, use your primary weapons to drop their life down to a pulp, then switch to your high-MF dual weaponry and finish them off. After you killed them, use Find-Item with dual weaponry on the corpse.
(NOTE: If you have an MF sorceress, I wouldn't recommend doing boss runs because the barbarian is much slower.)
Pit/Mausoleum/Ancient Tunnels, the areas of choice: Now this is where it gets interesting. Get your barbarian in one of these places and switch off to your MF weapons. That's right, stay like that throught the entire run because if you listened to me, then your mercenary should be killing the monsters for you. All you have to do is follow the trail of the dead and use Find-Item of each and every single corpse. Keep Healing Potions with you every step of the way. You will encounter LOTS of skeletons in these places and your mercenary wont be leeching any life from them.
The result:
A godly MF barb, nuff said.
