Why Rabies? If you want poison damage, why not use a Novamancer? Poison damage sucks ass anyway!
Wrong :) I do not consider Rabies damage "poison" damage. The only thing that it has in common with it is the fact that poison facets effect it. There are a few key differences between poison damage and what I call "rabies damage".
Poison damage CANNOT kill someone unless they are already at 1 life. It will only bring them down to 1 life, at which point you must cast another nova or hit them again in order to kill them. Rabies isn't like that. Rabies works almost more like Open Wounds. You bite the enemy once, and it will "re-inflict" the damage over and over. This means that you could bite them, they could use 4x antidote potions, and the next second they would be infected with rabies still. When they get down to 1 life, rabies re-inflicts the damage upon it's opponent, which causes him to die.
Skills: Werewolf - 20 Lycanthropy - 20 Rabies - 20 Feral Rage - 1 (required) Poison Creeper - 20 (synergy of Rabies and does nice poison damage) Ravens - 1 (ALWAYS useful, knocks back opponent, and cannot be killed)
Stats: Str - Enough for EBOTDZ/ss Dex - Enough for at least 60% block, more if wanted Vita - Rest Energy - Of course, NONE!
Items:
Weapons Ethereal Breath of the Dying Beserker Axe Most people will ask "Why not grief?", but the answer to that question is pretty simple. Rabies druids don't attack until their enemy dies, that would take far too long and be way too risky, which makes the +damage on Grief useless. The 20-25% -enemy poison resist looks tempting, but see below for my reasoning on why this is useless.
Shields Stormshield, your choice of rune/jewel. Do NOT use facet, do NOT use ber. You hit 50% DR without ber'ing your stormshield. (I suggest eld for 7% increased chance of blocking, or shael for 20% faster block rate. Be SURE to check frames before using a shael!)
Helms Jalal's. For sure. I used to like Cerebus, but Jalal's takes the cake. 2 druid, 2 shapeshifting, 30% FHR, 20% bonus AR, 20 strength, 30 res all... Socket with a shael, jewel, or anything else you may need (eg, jah for life). DON'T use ber, but it IS okay for you to use a facet in this item.
Armor High poison damage/high aura Bramble. Nice FHR, nice aura, and godly poison damage. Go ahead and make it in a high str armor, higher then Archon even (MAYBE). EBOTDZ and SS take about 140 str, and they each give 30.
Rings/Ammy Angelic Ring + Angelic Ammy + 20 dex/high AR raven No comments.
Gloves Trangs... You need the poison damage!
Belt Verdungo's Mithril Coil... FHR, lets you hit 50% DR, and gives you lots of life. GG item.
Boots Imps, wrath brands, treks... You're choice :) (imps and wbs are unperm boots on west, in case you play east/europe/asia).
WEAPON SWITCH! I've been mentioning it all guide... why you shouldn't use facet like damage in weapon/shield. On the switch, keep a high resistance Deaths Web (1 or 2 pnb skills, doesn't matter), along with a 5/5 die facet. For shield, use a 20/20 facet monarch.
Why: As I said before, Rabies damage re-inflicts itself so often, that if you switch your items after you infect someone, it will change the damage done to them! If you do 30k rabies damage with EBOTDZ/ss, and you do 50k with dweb and monarch, you bite them with ebotdz, run away and switch to dweb/monarch. He will then start taking damage from 50k instead of 30k. It doesn't seem like much, but in total, you have -80% enemy poison res total, and most people don't bother stacking poison res that high.
PS... My build of this does 47k damage, and has 7k life (WITHOUT BO!). It uses 25 lifer skill gcs, and no life scs!
PSS... Would be cool to rate the guide!
