No clue. With how new Vista is, I'll not have any clue until I get it myself, which won't be for a while. Also, you'll need to provide us more details if you want even any basic suggestions. |

I'm in the same boat and I believe he's having the same problem I am. When I run FF8 the screen resolution jumps down to 640x480, goes fullscreen, but only shows a black screen. The monitor isn't off (the light stays green instead of standby orange) so it's hard to say what's happening. |

AFAIK, none of us here have Vista, so the best I can suggest is to see if Vista offers a Compatibility Mode, and set that to Win98 if it does. |

Compatability mode doesn't work, either. To get my fix I installed VMware and run a Windows XP virtual machine so I can play. Not the easiest solution (not really a solution at all) but it works. |

You can always use Microsoft Virtual PC to play it in XP on your vista machine (assuming you have an XP licence to use). Virtual PC is a free download from microsoft. There are some perf problems (it takes awhile to load from disc), but it does work on my system. |

Leave it to the gaming world to find a crazy fix to this. I had same problem and was installing a virtual pc, but found this fix. After installing the patches (Which you can get from here: http://videogames.yahoo.com/pc/final-fantasy-viii/file-3206 0), you have to move the .exe file to a completely different directory. For example I moved mine from: F:\Program Files\Eidos Interactive\Square Soft, Inc\FINAL FANTASY VIII to F:\Games\FF8 Why it works i don't know. |

Oh, and make sure that you move the .exe and not just make a shortcut. Also, you will have to change your shortcuts too. |
