Tip for Maple Story
Provided by: Aelith

My Fighter Guide
This tip is currently ranked 3.7 out of 5 by a lot of voters.
Aelith has earned 4 gems!

[A] Starting Your Character (Warrior Style)

When you are creating your character, you will need to roll the dice in order to generate your stats. As a Future Fighter, your roll will want to look something like this:

STR: ##

DEX: ##

INT: (4 - 5)

LUK: (4 - 5)

The important part is getting the 4 or 5 into INT and LUK. As a Fighter, STR is what gives us our heavy damage. If you find it hard to get "4's" in INT and LUK, it won't kill you to settle for a "5" in one or the other ("4's" are still preferred). If you really want, the more STR a warrior has, a little bit more HP is earned per level up (although very slight), meaning you can aim for 10~12 STR when rolling the dice.

On a Side Note: Soon-to-be warriors do the most damage on Maple Island and we have to get to level 10 to make our advancement, i recommend that you do every quest on Maple Island to help pass the time.

Once you reach level 10, head over to Victoria Island (if you haven't already) and talk to the man named Olaf and answer his questions. After doing so pick up his "Path of the Warrior" quest and head to Phil in the ticketing booth below the ship and buy yourself a ride to Perion. Talk to Dances With Balrog who is at the very top building in Perion and become a Warrior~ yay! *tip* make sure you have at least 35 STR, although you should have more then 35 STR at level 10 (should be 42 if you rolled a 4/4).

[B] Ability Points (Fighter Style)

Everytime you level up, you receive 5 AP (ability points). You have a choice of distributing your points into the following:

HP MP STR DEX INT LUK

A Fighter's main focus (like any other warrior) centers in on STR and DEX. Ignore the rest. What you want to do is have your DEX double your level until you hit level 30, at which time you will switch to adding 4 STR and 1 DEX each level. When your DEX hits 80 (which if you follow this guide will be level 50) stop putting points into DEX. Your DEX is now capped at 80, meaning for the next 150 levels to max level, you will only be adding points into STR. Wootah!

Examples:

--Level 10--

STR - 42

DEX - 20

INT - 4

LUK - 4

--Level 30--

STR - 102

DEX - 60

INT - 4

LUK - 4

--Level 50--

STR - 182

DEX - 80

INT - 4

LUK - 4

Some explanation for what we are doing. We are keeping our DEX double our level until 30 to increase our accuracy. As warriors in general our accuracy is very low, and what you ask raises accuracy? DEX. The we switch to only adding 1 DEX each level for the sole reason that the STR requirements for our level 30+ gear starts to get a little high, in which the 3 STR 2 DEX each level won't cut it. And finally, we cap our DEX at 80 because that combined with our equips will allow us to hit any monster in MS at high levels.

[C] 1st Job Skills (Fighter Style)

I do not feel that I am obligated to put alternatives cause there are plenty of alternatives, by reading and following my guide you are asking for my opinions, so I am writing what I truely believe is the best build. This goes for Fighter skills as well. With that being said, the build I used for the first job is as follows:

Level

10 Improving HP Recovery +1

11 Improving HP Recovery +3

12 Improving HP Recovery +1, Improving Max HP Increase +2

13 Improving Max HP Increase +3

14 Improving Max HP Increase +3

15 Improving Max HP Increase +2 (MAX) , Power Strike +1

16 Slash Blast +3

17 Slash Blast +3

18 Slash Blast +3

19 Slash Blast +3

20 Slash Blast +3

21 Slash Blast +3

22 Slash Blast +2 (MAX) , Power Strike +1

23 Power Strike +3

24 Power Strike +3

25 Power Strike +3

26 Power Strike +3

27 Power Strike +3

28 Power Strike +3 (MAX)

29 Endure +3

30 Endure +3

Ends With:

Improving HP Recovery 5

Improving Max HP Increase 10 (MAX)

Slash Blast 20 (MAX)

Power Strike 20 (MAX)

Endure 6

Reason i went with Endure is really just because I'm a teeny bit impatient, so feel free to use your points on whatever you like for those last two levels, but i went with Endure. Slash Blast first because I find at the beginning of the game we fight monsters in packs rather then stronger monsters in low numbers.

Anyways, at level 30 go talk with Dances with Balrog then to the Warrior job instructor a few maps out of Perion. Finish his request and bring his letter back to Dances With Balrog. Gratz, you my friend are a Fighter!

[D] The Path of the Fighter

Fighter, my favorite job, and the best 2nd Job of all Warriors! Lets see a little comparison:

Leveling speed: Fighter Page Spearman

Average Damage: Fighter Page Spearman

Maximum Damage: Spearman Fighter Page

Minimum Damage: Fighter Page Spearman

Weapon Speeds: Fighter Page Spearman

Offense: Fighter Spearman Page

Defense: Page Fighter Spearman

Party: Spearman Fighter Page

Weapons: Sword Axe BW / Polearm Spear

HP: Spearman (Hyper Body) Fighter Spearman / Page

MP: Spearman (Hyper Body) Spearman / Page Fighter

Now you've seen the jobs side by side, and personally I see Fighter dominating the left side (greater side) of the comparison, I think you've made a great choice on which job to pick. Now the Skills for us Fighters:

Level

30 Mastery +1

31 Mastery +3

32 Mastery +3

33 Mastery +3

34 Mastery +3

35 Mastery +3

36 Mastery +3

37 Rage +3

38 Rage +3

39 Rage +3

40 Rage +3

41 Rage +3

42 Rage +3

43 Rage +2 (MAX) , Booster +1

44 Booster +3

45 Booster +2 , Final Attack +1

46 Final Attack +3

47 Final Attack +3

48 Final Attack +3

49 Final Attack +3

50 Final Attack +3

51 Final Attack +3

52 Final Attack +3

53 Final Attack +3

54 Final Attack +3

55 Final Attack +2 (MAX) , Power Guard +1

56 Power Guard +3

57 Power Guard +3

58 Power Guard +3

59 Power Guard +3

60 Power Guard +3

61 Power Guard +3

62 Power Guard +3

63 Power Guard +3

64 Power Guard +3

65 Power Guard +2 (MAX) , Booster +1

66 Booster +3

67 Booster +3

68 Booster +3

69 Booster +3

70 Booster +1 (MAX) , Mastery +1 (MAX) , Endure +1

Ends With:

Improving HP Recovery 5

Improving Max HP Increase 10 (MAX)

Slash Blast 20 (MAX)

Power Strike 20 (MAX)

Endure 7

Sword / Axe Mastery 20 (MAX)

Rage 20 (MAX)

Final Attack Sword / Axe 30 (MAX)

Sword / Axe Booster 20 (MAX)

Power Guard 30 (MAX)

Now, for skills labeled Master, Booster and Final Attack, you will notice you have two options for each one, Sword or Axe. You choose ONE of these weapons and only add that type of Weapon up. You are choosing SWORDS or AXES. As to my opinion on this one, I'd definately Say 2 Handed Sword. Yes, they are the most common and yes they are the most expensive, wanna know why? They are the best stableized, fastest, highest 2H type there is. Axe Fighters are rarer and cheaper to make, I only recommend axes if you love axes or are just really cheap. As for the 1H / 2H debate, again i say the 2H is superior. Its got the damage us Fighters long for. Again, 1H is cheaper to make and they are rarer around the Maple Community, and you can use a shield for added defense if your into that kinda thing.

[E] Training Areas (Order From Most to Least Effective)

Very nice guide. You hit the nail on the head, and even used the same 1st job build I use on all my warriors. :D

To add a little constructive criticism:

You're really accurate on the 2nd job strenghts/weaknesses..

However, the tables turn when you hit 3rd job. Saders go from being the best second job class to being in between on many of the categories. Dragon Knights can level much faster as long as there's a priest.

The damage per minute is pretty debatable for all three of them. A White Knight on elemental enemies can dish out consistent 8k's Per hit while a Sader would have to charge his combo before he can do anything.

While a DK can mob and easily pull off over 30k total, a sader has to again charge combo. Not to mention a sader has to max three skills to become all-rounded; Combo, Panic and Coma.

But of course, that doesn't make any of the three warriors better than the other. In the end, they all come out very unique classes with their own strengths and weaknesses. Sadly, WK's get more weaknesses but here's looking forward to 4th job!

Just looking at it from a pretty far along Dragon Knight's point of view, not trying to go against you or anything. :P

  • Also, from 43ish-50, Block Gollems on Eos tower floor 8 are GODLY. They give around 100 exp and constantly spawn in mobs of 3 to about 8. They also give great mesos. I can tell you this from experience because I train my now level 48 page there. :O

From 55-60, I trained at Drake's Meal table on my Spearman. But that was years ago so there might be better stuff now, and I don't know if Saders/Pages can handle it without maxed Power Guard anyways.

  • And lastly, the damage range for Axes and Blunt weapons alike are unstable, nearly as bad as Polearms/Spears. But if you have the money, going the Axe/BW road is probably better since you can scroll several weapons at a time hoping to turn out something godly (Which will lead to better min and max damage than an averagely scrolled sword). Otherwise if you're not into mass-scrolling, Swords are the better choice.

Oops, I was too negative on saders in my 3rd job comparisons.

Crusaders are basically the best of the three third job warriors at soloing. Dragon Knights need a priest 70% of the time to be at their full potential, while saders need them more like 15% of the time (For fighting bosses and training in some places).

Once again, nice guide. 6 out of 5. :D

    Thanks :D

But those comparisons, they were for the second job specifically. I know the three 3rd jobs definately are a little more even in terms of strengths and weaknesses...
