It's between 5 & 6. Kim Jong Il is out right away, as I don't think highly of dictators. Tom Cruise...I hate the Hollywood elite. I don't like President Bush much, and he's lived a full life. I dunno much about Bill Keller, but from what I've heard he's pretty crazy. I went with the heart surgeon...because he's saved many lives and will probably continue to save lives. I hate to say it, but the orphan on the streets probably wouldn't live a fun life anyways, if he made it far in life at all. Sad, really sad, but true. :-/ |

Well...I ended up choosing the surgeon. Bill Keller: I dont know much about him at all, I just know he preaches and is pretty well-known. I am a Christian, but...I dunno, I just didn't choose him. President Bush: No way. I dont really want him dead or anything, but I guess I wouldn't care considering how much he's ruined America's look in the past few years(He's got half the population of the world hating and blaming America for this war) Kim Jong II: Once again, no way. I'd actually like this guy dead because of how he keeps North Korea under such cruel rule(You know how the civilians there are forced to live?) Tom Cruise: Nah. He may make lots of movies, but other people have more "important" lives than his. The orphan: I had considered choosing this, but then I thought about how he probably wanted out of this cruel world, and how even if he did survive and grow up, he'd be haunted by his terrible childhood the rest of his life. And that leaves us with the Surgeon, a very good man who has saved countless people, and if allowed to live, could save countless more. It was a tough choice between some, but considering the other 5 are either evil, just there to entertain, or suffering(Like the orphan), then I had to go with the Surgeon, since he could save so many more lives. |

It was an easy choice for me. The surgeon. I don't know why anyone would pick anyone else unless you're a dick. And yes, I think you're a dick if you pick the orphan. Because if you deny countless people's lives from being saved because of one kid you're a dick. |

Know one, including me, is knowledgable enough to know for sure who is the best to keep. As for the surgeon, "oh he saved lives BLAH BLAH BLAH......" first of all, that doesn't make his life any more valuable than an orphan who hasn't had a chance to save lives, so who is anyone to judge that his life is worth more? If you don't think his life is more valuable and don't know whose life is more valuable (which I think is enough reason to answer this with "I don't know, but I'll choose without knowing for sure"), but chose him because of his contribution to the world, then what about the following situations? 1)He might save the life of someone who will later be a murderer. 2)He might save the life of someone who will later cheat on his/her spouse and become a dishonest person, which will make the lives of the patient and his family more miserable than if he had lived. 3)He might save the life of someone who will one day be the father/mother of a person who brings no good to the world....who might depress people and cause them to commit suicide, for instance. Now even if he saves other good lives with no downside of their going on living, who knows how the future would change if the doctor lived? I'm not saying that because of the previous reasons, we shouldn't save him. I'm just saying there's no way of knowing for sure that the fact that he saves lives is enough for him to "logically" be the one to save. So I really don't have an answer to the question, because I wouldn't choose a person by their contribution to society, anyway (not that that is clear in any of these people)....I would choose based on the value of the person, and I cannot put a value on a person's life and compare it with another's, so I can't choose. Not to mention this question is just a game for people to pretend to play God. |

My post should have started with "no one" not "know one". How odd. |
