You would do well to get Substance (if you can find it) and Subsistence. Substance has the same game as the original, plus VR mission, and a few side "stories" that you can play through. Subsistence comes with the original as well as Metal Gear 1 & 2 that originally appeared on the Famicom/Nintendo way back in the mid-80's. |

Yeah I'd just get the Essential Collection. It's all three games for cheaper than one. If, for some reason, you can't get the Essential Collection, then it comes down to a matter of price. Substance and Subsistence are exactly the same but with bonus features. They're like a special edition DVD. The original versions of the game are pretty much just the game and nothing else, but you can probably find them both used for next to nothing. The bonus things on Substance and Subsistence are non-canon and add nothing to the plot. They're just mini-games and things like that. They're fun and provide you with a lot more to do before throwing the game on your shelf to collect dust, but if you're just playing for the story and don't want to spend a lot, the originals are probably your best bet. |
