Hi everybody Ive never played any MGS games before but I am thinking of starting
|
So I plan on playing through Metal Gear Solid 1,2,3 and 4. But firstly there are 2 versions of MGS1. There is the PS1 version and the gamecube version (The Twin Snakes). Which version would you reccomend I get? Can you tell me the pros and cons of each version?

Here's how it breaks down: MGS1 PsOne - Best way to get into the MGS Universe; you're entreated to a darker version of the events that began in 1998, and are concluding this year.Twin Snakes - Best way to admire the graphics and cinematics of a remake. a fun revisit, but not mush substance and a horrible way to start out in MGS. |

The MGS remake is awful. Graphically it is superb, but it is terrible in every other way imaginable. Just buy MGS: Essential Collection. It was just released for PS2. It's MGS1, 2 and 3 on one (?) disc for $30. One of the best purchases you could ever make. |

I agree with Mr. Sir. Get the essential's package. However, while it does come with MG 1 & 2, plus MGS 1, 2, & 3, please note that it is not all on one disc. That will be the better way of going. |

First you should know that MGS may not be your thing - a friend of mine bought MGS3 in an attempt to get involved in the MGS scene (heh, the Meme Gene Scene!), but couldn't stand the "anti-action" part of the game; the fact that it's a "sneak 'em up" and not a full on action game. But I actually enjoy Twin Snakes, provided you ignore some of the incredibly ridiculous FMVs... like him leaping on top of a moving missile to fire his Stinger at a Hind-D. What the Outer Heaven were you thinking, Kojima!? |
