I can get Halo 3, Gears of War and Bioshock on my PC if I wanted to. Lost planet is not a 360 exclusive if it's been announced for PS3, same with Orange Box.

My friend HAD Oblivion on his 360, that is until it scratched it up, along with some other 360 games. After he saw my PS3 version, he said it himself that the load times were so much shorter on the PS3.

Geoff - the 360 controller is an evolution from the original xbox controller that was indeed a follow-on from the dreamcast controller. Calling the 360 controller a rip-off of the DC is stupid - it has far more functions.

Compare this to the PS3 controller which is an out-dated relic from the ps1 days. Before that it was cheap tat used on pc's. It has failed to evolve at all and the analouge sticks dont even belong on it - they are stuck on as an afterthought and badly positioned because sony were too lazy to redesign the controller to properly accommodate them.

I have no probelm with the 360 controller following the DC design as the DC was probably my favourite console (i still have 3 of them), and i found its controller to be superb, even though the flex came out the wrong end. It was the first controller to feature twin analouge triggers, the triggers on PS3 are still not as good.

In terms of aesthetics the 360 is years ahead of the PS3 which is still stuck the big black box age of uninspired design. The 360 has a modern appearance in line with current tehnology such as ipod and iphone - not surprising since they had the same designers.

The 360 wasn't designed by the same team that designed the iPhone or iPod. Apple has their own internal designers for that, and Microsoft would never get their hands on them. Corporate rivalry, and all.

At least Sony came up with their own idea for a controller. Fanboys won't shut up about the fact that the PS3 controller isn't different from the PS2 or PS1 controller. Why fix it if it aint broke? But I did like the boomerang controller, I wish Sony stuck with it, or at least gave you the option of original Playstation controller or boomerang; but there were too many 360 fanboys bashing it because they look for any minor detail, no matter how much it matters to bash.

Normally PS3 fans have at least a reasonable argument, delusional as it is, but GeoffZak clearly has no idea what he is talking about. From what you're saying GeoffZak, I can safely assume you've never even seen a 360 let alone played one.

I have seen and played a 360 for a fact, but I don't own one. The console does resemble a dell PC tower, and the controller also resembles a Dreamcast controller. I've played some of it's exclusives like Gears and Halo 3, (Some friends own 360s) I can safely say PS3 has better exclusives. Playing Halo 3 felt like playing Halo 2 with better graphics, it was good, but they should've added more new features. Only up 16 people per server on Halo 3, up to 32 on Warhawk, and up to 40 on Resistance without constant lag. I do find Warhawk and Resistance more fun than Halo 3. One of my friends who owns a 360 really wishes that Warhawk, NBA 08 and Uncharted Drake's Fortune were on the 360.

-Evan Wells of Naughty Dog said that Uncharted would be possible on the 360, but it'd be very difficult to make it as good as it is on the PS3. For a 360 version, they wouldn't be able to keep the game load free, They'd have to take short cuts here and there, and they'd have to make the environments smaller.

A lot of my friends that own a 360 claim that it feels a lot like playing a last-gen console after getting their hands on some PS3 games.

And yes...it does look like a Dell PC tower, and yes...the controller is a hybrid of a PS and Dreamcast controller.

Evan Wells is an employee of a Sony-supported developer. The people who made Heavenly Sword stated the same thing, and I'm 100% certain HS would be possible on the 360. Don't know about Uncharted as much...but I wouldn't be surprised if that was simply PR spin.

and we must not forget about how every single 360 messes up. every single person ive known thats had a 360 has had bad expierence with it. they only last for a year, maybe two if you treat it really well. as for the ps3, it has no failures and now you can get one for $400. yes it may be $50 more than a 360 but hey im willing to pay 400$ once than to pay $350 for a 360 and have it mess up on me.

PS3s do fail, just not in the same number as 360s. ESRB over at the NGVS forum had his disk drive crap out on him.

Though at least half of the people I know with 360s have had the console fail on them, some are on their 2nd or 3rd 360.

No, I don't have a 360, want one though.

I think you should get one, but I think it'd be best if you waited a few more months and wait for the newer chipset 360s to flush out the older, failure-prone models. The Falcon chipset (the new one) apparently has no massive failure problems (I'd think it still has a significant failure rate, but nothing near 33%, probably between 5-10%. 5% is considered normal for a lot of electronics products, though.

If you want one bad enough, and the only reason keeping you from getting one is the failure rate, then wait until about mid-Spring, then jump on the 360 boat.

I plan on getting one in late 2008.
