It is now, as long as you have the awesome brain power to follow instructions. Either use TOTALNewbi easyInstaller found here: http://tinyurl.com/37kgf6 or Catb50's Ultimate Magic Memory Stick Creator v3.0 found at www.catb50dev.co.nr That last one is more updated than the first one and it doesn't include all of the update files with it. Those two are just the methods to use on a non-homebrew enabled PSP. Lately I guess it's become the more preferred option. For PSPs already running CFW, see http://tinyurl.com/6cygxd You can also hard mod the battery yourself, if you've got a spare. Here's the whole guide to that, which included a walkthrough for TOTALNewbi easyInstaller. http://tinyurl.com/2rw3ye Here is the picture diagram for both the 2200 and 1800 MAH official Sony batteries: http://tinyurl.com/4f566c |

You benefit everything Sony made restricted and pretty much everything everyone has been complaining about that was wrong with the PSP. Apart from that, all that's missing is an amplified speaker and a second analog nub. You no longer have to repurchase great PS1 games or have to use UMDs with their much complained about load times. It was fixed in the slim PSP, but it's always a little faster to load from memory sticks. I suppose bad game design is partly to blame. You can also load up games and emulators made by people. It's a great alternative to the battery eating GP2X. SNES, NES, GBA, PS1, N64 (still in the works for compatibility though), etc. There are a lot of useful homebrew apps like IR Shell and PSP Filer. You also get better custom themes than the ones Sony gives (you also get those), but some of the flash0 and CTF themes are way better. They applied that idea from us. |

Yeah sure. If the guy made a game for free public distribution, then I'd try them out occasionally. I was more interested in the applications than those though. |

Depends on where you look and what you're looking for. For the most part, any relatively intelligent person would know they didn't download a virus or would probably not download it altogether. It's kind of a sixth sense for the internet... but you know, only download from sites you know and trust and you should be fine. |

Blah, I hate how DATEL is making all the easy money by taking free ware and selling it as there own for the batteries they produce, which one individual can produce with losing close to nothing in their pocket |

That was my first reaction too. Eh, it's not completely bad because not everyone is savvy enough to open up their battery or fortunate enough to know someone who is willing do it for them. It's the same with Xbox and PS2 soft modding and the cheating device scenes. Datel is just cashing in on them because they know they can't compete with the likes of free cheat devices like CWCheat and NitePR. These things are done for convenience sake for people who can't figure it out for themselves. It's like the Memor32 being a rip off of the PS2 Independece exploit. They just cut out the middle man for convenience sake (in this case, it was a cheat device like AR MAX, Codebreaker or Gameshark). They even put a USB port on the 32MB memory card. Like I said, it's for convenience... and that's still a little pricey to pay. It's always cheaper to figure out these things for yourself. The PS2's Independence Exploit, Xbox, PSP's CFW, etc. |
