Lainy sighed as she made her way down the busy new York street at 6 in the morning. The cold morning air of winter stung her nose and cheeks, so she pulled the scarf around her tighter. Brushing her stark black hair and all its glossy glossy out of her face, she unlocked the front door to her little establishment. It had a sigh over the top that lit at night. It was a book, open with the pages in mid-flip. A book ribbon, pink, was flowing to the side. In blue letters underneath the reddish-brown book with off-white pages it read 'Between the Pages'.
Opening the door, she let her gray eyes trail over the clean space. Pushing her ever-insistent hair out of the way, she pulled off her brown scarf and brown coat that was two shades lighter. She went to put them in the staff area.
When walking into the building you saw a counter next to a spiral staircase with a door behind them that led to staff courtiers. The room was done in tasteful earth colors. The walls a light green and the floor a gleaming hardwood floor. The lights were dim, but not too dim. There were four doors, two on each wall. The one on the right closest to the door was red with a pink heart and a white rose in the middle. The one next to that was black with a white spider web painted on it. The first one on the other side of the wall was brown with rice glass, like an old detectives door. And the last was a dark blue door with dark gray clouds and black rain going down.
Romance, horror, mystery and tragedy. Really the best fiction genres for books. Her little place was a restaurant/bookstore. The top level, where the staircase led to, held book after book. classics to new age.
Lainey began opening doors to the rooms. Her slender form gliding along the hardwood. Her black hair fanned out then settled against her back once more as she twirled to open the next door. Her sharp nose held small glasses she used for reading only. They didn't take away from her though, because they made her face look a little smaller. Her high cheekbones and soft jaw could have gotten her through modeling, but then she wouldn't have the place she loved so much.
It was around 7 when she opened the restaurant. The staff all in place, the kitchen up and running, she opened the door and waited for the day to begin.
