((This is after the storming of the Deici Pistol HQ)) Watch for the red sun, Watch for the red skies, Watch out for the fallen, With a blaze in their eyes. Spinner returned to his homeland, shortly after the events of Agis's death. The blusterly land of Solus, a scientific phenomenon where half of the year it was a winter wasteland and the other half a blazing desert. There was no temperate, but two extremes of hot and cold. Spinner took shelter in a ruins of a fortress, with the draw bridge wide open and a crumbling castle laid to waste in this iceland. It used to belong to the one of the Lords, but he vanished from the castle to pursue a more quiet life. Not more could be said about him. Spinner started a fire in the dilapidated building, not eager to venture further into the rooms, but next to the splintered front door of the castle, away from the door and from the wind. Agis was gone, gone to the world ahead, but what was this feeling of hope? He couldn't quite understand it, but he couldn't mourn. He can be sad, yes, but not waste it on tears. "Watch for the red sun," he sang, "watch for the red skies, watch out for the fallen with a blaze in their eyes..." He looked to the sky. Just the night sky, with storm clouds covering the moon. He didn't know what this song had to do with the Deici situation. This was a song from when he was younger, a song to stay away from the shadows, a realm of darkness that even the nocturnal creatures fear, a place where the strength of the daywalkers drain and left at the mercy of those who thrive and thirst for revenge. But this is a story for another time. Spinner couldn't grasp it, but an ominous cloud was hanging in the air, a feeling of repulsion from this land. Why did he come here? And what about it frightens him? He knew he had business here, but he doesn't know what that would be either. Spinner bundled himself in a cloak, to drive away the cold. He clothed himself in fur sweaters to repel the cold. His bushy tail was wrapped inside the cloak. ((look at http://tinyurl.com/2mn2pl. Spinner's in the middle)) |

A thin sparkling fills the air to the north of Spinner and his refuge, about a hundred feet above the ground.. Within a minute or two, a soft whistling, as of wind, comes from the direction of the iridescence, and then a loud thump as something large crashes to the ground from the shinies, an animal, or so it seems, though it lies still, some fifty yards from where Spinner is huddled* |

He hated deserts. He really did, mainly because of the heat and dryness. It made him sweaty and uncomfortable, and all he wanted to do in the heat was lay around and do nothing...Which, he did when possible, but occasionally survival took over lethargy. But that's a different issue entirely. For now, it would be best to get the point across that HE HATE THE COLD MORE! The poor little Rattius wandered his way through the wastelands, but knew that night was soon to set, and he needed a place to see. His nose was what saved him, as he could soon smell burning wood on the wind. With new vigor, the shivering rat crossed the snowy banks and moved towards the castle... "SPINNER!" Despite all cold, the little rat sprinted towards the bundled-up fox boy, and soon found his way onto to his shoulder. "Remember me? Shortsnout?" He shivered. "...Anyway I could get in. It's getting kinda cold..." |

OoC: Let's pretend that Maddie's seen Spinner hanging around Agis before. n.n' What gained the woman's attention was the morbid song emitted from the little fox boy. Madeline was a little ways from the fortress, a place she could reach with just a few steps. Truth to be told, she had followed Agis's young companion here; however, the slayer had not expected the boy to be capable of traveling this far - all the way from the head-quarters of the Dieci Pistole. Still, Madeline had yet uncovered the reason she decided to pursue the boy. The young woman bore no harmful intentions, of that she was certain. Dressed in a heavy white cloak, her appearance provided a sharp contrast with the darkening skies. Madeline managed to slip past the wooden door, taking very little notice of its poor condition. Her gestures were gentle and graceful as she drew near the center of warmth, towards the little boy and the mouse creature. In the slowest movement, a gloved hand forced her hood back to reveal her tranquil, nearly emotionless countenance - framed by silken tresses of gold. Melancholy, however, flickered in the aquamarine depths of her eyes. Choosing to remain silent for a moment, Madeline waited for their reaction. Whether it be fear or shock, she uttered soft-spoken words. "Hi, there. May I join you for a little while?" To the two, she offered a smile to display her harmlessness. |

((no prob! ^_^)) This place...used to be fertile, the land of warm sun... He snapped out of his dreamlike state. He rubbed his head. Deaths close to him have always affected him like this. Taking his mind to places where he doesn't understand. A squeak woke him up, as he turned to find his cuddly friend, Shortsnout. "Greetings Snortshout!" he said with his bubbly British accent (light cockney). "How did you get here so far away from the desert! And into Solus of all places and to the ruined Volatis castle! Must be providence we are to meet here at the same place! How are you?" And next would be a woman. How fluid her movements were! The boy fox stood up instantly, out of innate respect for the woman. "Hello Ma-a-dam!" he stuttered, "'tis no problem, no problem at all, no not at all--" he would have continued the banter, but a sudden quake shook the rafters of the ruined castle, causing dust to fall on the ground, causing him to sneeze and cough. “What in the world?” he peeked out the door to see a shapely being through the stormy snow. “Sir or Madam! Are you alright!? Can you hear my voice?” he bellowed to the creature. He hoped the loud shrill of the storm did not muffle his voice. |

Shortsnout was quite thankful for being allowed to stay. A biting wind came, making him shiver, and so the little rat began to burrow under the cloak, positioning himself so that only his little head popped out from beneath the folds, trying to stay warm. It apparently was working, because he wasn't shaking anymore, and then licked the side of the fox boy's cheek in gratitude. "Thanks for allowing me to stay!" he said happily, before answering the question. "Well, I kinda wander around a lot, so I guess I just ended up here! I'm not sure about fate...Never really thought about it...Oh well, I'm still happy to be with you again! How have you been? What's happened lately?" Then the newcomer entered. A lady. He cocked his head, then allowed her to speak. "Sure, that's perfectly fine! I don't mind! What's your name? I'm Shortsnout!" Before any formalities could be made, the large thump was heard, more clearly by him than anyone else. He immediately scurried out of his little pocket in the cloak and stood on Spinner's shoulder. With his keen eyes, he was able to look through the storm and see what had caused the disturbance. "It's a dragon, Spinner! Neat! I can't tell much more than that, though...Maybe it's nice!" He cupped his paws to make his voice carry farther, though it probably dissipated in the roaring wind. "HELLO MISTER OR MISS DRAGON! ARE YOU NICE?" |

Since her unfortunate encounter with the wild elf, all qualities of kindliness she may have possessed had submerged, hidden beneath a veil of hatred, contempt for Agis - his damned, malevolent side. Now, however, some traces had uncommonly begun to resurface in the presence of these two seemingly-harmless beings. She felt pity for the little boy in particular, now that he was rendered lonesome by Agis’s death. In truth, Madeline sensed that she was partly to blame for his loneliness. Her eyes eventually were cast upon the winged beast in the short distance, she was aware that it could potentially cause harm. Madeline eyed it with a last, cautious glance before shifting her attention elsewhere. When she heard the little rat’s question, the golden-tressed woman only gave a small smile. She closed the distance in between and allowed herself to sit nearby them. It was then she uttered an answer to his question, “My name’s Madeline, Shortsnout. But you can call me Maddie if you like.” This, /this/ was very unusual of the young woman, to allow others to address her with the casual diminutive. “What about you? What’s your name?” The small gesture involving her eyes gazing upon the boy fox indicated that she directed her questions toward him. |

“Well,” he said, “the dragon looks as if it can hear us. We’ll give it time to walk to the castle. This place is rather large and can be seen even through a snowstorm.” He re-entered the castle and sat down near the fire to warm up. He thought of a purple haired woman, with fox ears and brilliant sapphire eyes until Madeline interrupted his thoughts. He gulped nervously when inquired of his name. “My head—I mean—my name is Spinly—err—Daisuke Spinner,” he said, stuttering. “But you may call me Spinner if you wish!” He said that rather loud, too loud. He felt his face grow hot with embarrassment, a nice defense against the cold air. “Madam, what brings you here to Solus?” He’s getting used to talking now, hopefully Madeline doesn’t take too much notice in it. ((We’ll could post and Khory could jump in if she likes)) |

He nodded happily, unaware of just how hard it was for her to be so kind so soon. His perky tone and naive nature made such deep thoughts hard to process. Now, his other side may have easily figured it out, but right now he was perfectly happy with allowing his more perky personality to be let out...Mainly because the cold would be better combated by a warm spirit. "Okay, Maddie! Nice to meet you!" It was, at this range, practically impossible for Spinner to hid emotions. When they sat by the fire to warm up, Shortsnout could feel the deep thought the fox boy was delving into, but once again said nothing. That was, once again, a job for his other half. What he was REALLY curious about, at least for the moment, was how Spinner reacted when talking to the nice lady. Standing on his shoulder, the Rattius could both see and feel the heat coming from the poor boy's face, and was quite confused by it. Was he nervous? That was a question he would most certainly ask some other time. "Yes Maddie, why are you here?" Shortsnout asked curiously, his disposition causing him to switch from subject to subject. "Sorry, Spinner, but this place isn't very nice to visit!" |

The young woman flashed a smile to Shortsnout for his friendliness had lifted her heart. However, when she heard the boy fox's words, apprehending his expectancy for the beast to approach, Madeline became a bit stunned – if not horrified. She concluded that he was, perhaps, too naive to notice the potential harm this dragon could cause. Dismissing her fretful thoughts, she gave a kind nod as the boy fox introduced himself with an endearing edginess. “Ah, alright. Then, I'll call you Spinner,” Madeline said with a small grin, finding his embarrassment highly comical – though she would never mention it to the poor boy and further shame him. The light in her eyes slightly dimmed when they pressed her with their curiosity. What was she to tell them? That she held concern for Spinner and so she stalked the boy all the way from the Dieci base? No, they would perceive her as disturbingly odd. Even if it was the truth. Should she diverge from it? A little lie would be tolerable, she rationalized. With a gentle intake of air, Madeline began, “Well, I was traveling and found myself lost. Not long after, I found this place... and you two.” She ended with an embarrassed chuckle, hoping to sound convincing. Before suspicion could arise in either of her newly-made friends, she hastily brought up a question of her own, “Surely both of you don't live here? It's so freezing, this place.” |

Lost? Well it's perfectly natural to get lost in Solus, but what would she be doing in Solus in the first place? Zephyr and Graxios were perfectly respectable places to visit and more kind to those who tend to get lost. He also heard the "other side" called Xenith, tends to be more friendly. However there was a little skepticism, due to the geographical position--no--perhaps it's nothing. She got lost and that's all there is to it. No need to press the matter further. "Well," Spinner started. "I'm here because this is where I was born. No, I didn't grow up here, but there was a law stating that prior to someone's birth they must travel to their ancestors birthplace..." He pulled off his glove on his right hand to reveal a black tattoo of a crescent moon pierced by a sword. "Since I have the sign of Solus, I have to be born here," he said. "Though why I should come here...perhaps something is drawing me, beckoning me and..." He realized now how he had been going on and on. "Goodness! I'm sorry! I tend to carry on like that," he said, blushing and nervously scratching his head. "What are you doing here Shortsnout and also, Madam Maddie, where are you trying to get to? Knowing you being lost means you had to have some destination in mind." It was not a question of suspicion but simply a way to help Madeline get to the place she was going to. After all, Spinner knows the continent of Matnook as well as a textbook. |
