I've never been seriously injured while playing a sport, but I was really close one time. Me and a couple of my friends pitch every now and then, and we decided we wanted to take it up a notch and have one of the guys bat while the other two pitched and played catcher. We made the stupid mistake of not wearing any catcher's gear either. Needless to say, I was catcher and I called for a four-seam fastball and my friend threw it, probably around 70-75 MPH or so right down the middle. Then my friend at the plate swung and it was one of those where you are right on the pitch but just miss it, and he fouled it straight back into the left side of my jaw. I had one of those green bruises for a week and a half or so. Not cool. Surprisingly though it didn't really hurt at all, but it was a bit of a shock. Actually it pumped me up a little, lol. I stood up immediately and shook it off, and was pretty fired up, lol. I was pretty lucky though. I was wearing my glasses and if it were about a foot or so up and a bit to the right it coulda definitely shattered 'em and well... yeah... blindness... Needless to say I always refused when they wanted to hit again. Not to mention when it was my turn to bat, my friend (who was batting when I was catching) was pitching, and he threw HARD, but was really wild. He hit me in the wrist, shin and knee with fastballs within a span of 7 or 8 pitches. I got pretty fed up a couple pitches later when he threw a curveball behind me. I was like "Fuck it, I am not batting anymore", lol. I mean, I have really good control when I pitch for the most part, but poor velocity. But I mean, he couldn't throw it in the ocean if he was standing on the beach. Anyway, yeah. That's my close call story. |

The worst thing I've ever really had is a bad case of tendonitis. I have it in both knees right now. It's more of a dull pain than anything else, so it's not what you'd call a serious injury, even though it could sideline a person for well over a month. |

well, not SEVERELY, but I did black out for a few seconds when I got hit by a pitch in the face, I also sprained or broken my thumb when I was little and played goalie in soccer, I also fractured my knee while running, but I guess that's not really a sport (since i wasn't racing or anything) |

Playing actual team sport? Worst I've had is a softball in the eye. They're not soft. Just playing with mates I've had many cuts and bruises, and a month ago knacked my ankle in. Luckily I didn't snap it, just pulled a couple of muscles and twisted a few ligaments. Worst I've seen is at school, me and my mate were messing on with a football (sawker) and he went to tackle me and broke his ankle. Oh, I've also bitten trough my tongue when wrestling with mates. My knee hit my jaw any my upper and lower cainines just met each other after going through the tongue. |

Well, it's not like a sport like baseball or football, but I was skateboarding, this was last year, and I was going down A pved driveway. I tried to ollie of the curve and instead went over the chipped thing. Hit my face on the street and messed up my ankle pretty bad. I had huge scars on my face that hurt and I was on crutches for a week. I haven't really skatedboarded since, for my mom. I had some friends pretty messed up. In football I beleive my friend got his arm trapled with cletes or something and it got broken pretty bad. |

well once, Cavs was going up for his pattened homo granny shot, and I blocked it and landed on the ground just fine. But I seriously injured his pride, I had to remind him to pick it up on the way out or else he woulda left it there, lying on the floor. but honestly, worst I've ever done was a sprained ankle in gym class during a game of b-ball. I've gotten a high ankle sprain while playing summer league basketball. I was going up for a shot and came down on my defenders foot and my whole body turned while my ankle stayed in place. I sat out the rest of the summer league season and had to get cortizone shots when I was cleared to play to deal with the nagging soreness. It suuuuucked. But when I came back my scoring avg. went from 17 ppg to 25 ppg....so maybe it was a blessing in disguise. [vaux] |

ClevelandCavs: You guys really suffer a lot; I should be grateful that I've never been through such agony. :-( Trust me, it could be a lot worse. What makes me feel bad is to see your friends and fellow classmates have to sit out entire seasons due to injuries. For most of them, high school sports will be the pinnacle of their atheltic careers, and those are times you should really relish. Especially when a senior gets injured seriously, that's when I sympathize. well once, Cavs was going up for his pattened homo granny shot, and I blocked it and landed on the ground just fine. But I seriously injured his pride, I had to remind him to pick it up on the way out or else he woulda left it there, lying on the floor. How did you know I specialize in the granny shot? Seriously? But, I must say, if you ever tried to play me in b-ball, I'd be blocking you back to the stone age and posterizing you on every turn. Just jump in the air, yell Kobe, and shoot. It works every time. My half court shot % is higher than your free throw %, son. |

^lol In a way, it kind of sucks playing sports as a senior, because you want so badly to win, and try your hardest. On the other hand, you are conservative because you don't want an injury to put you out for good. Im lucky, I haven't the slightest injury. |

im very lucky too. i havn't had anything serious. and i am oh so thankful that i havn't had any bad experiences playing catcher. the only serious things that have happened to me are: once when i was playing shortstop, there was a line-drive to me and i spaced and couldn't get it so it hit me in the throat. for a minute or so, i was gasping to breathe. after that i was still heavy-breathing for a couple hours. i did have to leave for a couple innings. this next one happened in basketball. i am one of the taller guys on my team, so this could have contributed. so i was set in the paint. the other team's PG comes barreling into me. and he theigh/knee crashes into my leg. i fell over and couldn't walk for the day. i had to sit out the rest of the game. Yes the charging foul WAS called on the other player. we won that game anyway. not too serious stuff. -- |

ClevelandCavs23: Lol. I don't really have a good response, but by your descriptiveness; you must be REALLY good at basketball. x-D Buck Nasty: Well that's good. :-) YoBasketball: Compared to everyone else here, you're considered to be in perfect condition. But even though it's not as serious as the others' injuries, that's still pretty awful. :-( Redbirds Fan: ...Did you eat the meat afterwards? Lol. |

call it a hunch. I'll call it a stalker... ClevelandCavs23: Lol. I don't really have a good response, but by your descriptiveness; you must be REALLY good at basketball. x-D Nah, I'm not very good. Good players don't talk smack; they play good. Decent to bad players have to talk smack because their game sure doesn't talk for them. All I'm good for is rebounding and passing. I'm a PG, well, that's my favorite position at least, but I can't shoot very well. |

That's not better! :-o ClevelandCavs23: Shooting's no problem, according to my standards; it's getting the ball to the net that's tricky for me. I can't seem to dribble it long enough, get it from a teammate or just do a layup that well without someone else getting in the way. :-/ |
