Leg building
|
Ok, sports day at my school (athletic events not primary school events) are here soon and im looking to qualify for the long jump and high jump and i wouldn't mind doing better at the 100m so i can make the relay team again. Im 15 and currently i can get 1m40+ at high jump (we ran out of time to finish) and 4m29 at long jump. I havent done 100m since last year (which i got 14.9 seconds in). Im not much of a sprinter... Anyways, im looking for an exercise, something simple but useful to build my leg strength. Currently im jogging and doing squats (or swats, whatever you call it). Any simple routine would help. Thanks in advance.

I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but to be qualifying for something, those are pretty bad times/jumps. For jumping, here's a few good tips. Try plyaometric strength training. There's plenty of exercises involved in playos, so they'll help a lot. Do some leg strength training, like running and using weights. Also, incorporate hurdles into your exercises; if you look on Youtube under high jump, they have several videos about using hurdles for leg strength training. Most importantly, practice your events over and over again. Read up on good form and jumping technique, practice it a lot, and nail it. |

Thanks and btw, we only do these events once or twice so we dont get a lot of practice and we only do these near the end of the school year. Honestly ive done these events (tries) about 10 times maximum. I said im not much of a sprinter, never have been but relay is fun :) As for my jumping i reckon i coudget 1m55 at high jump and 4m70 at long approximately. But i dont get the oppurtunities to do these enough :( |
