I dislike FG also, but for different reasons. Take out most of the repetitive flash backs and I think you would have a good show. And why didn't Lois die that episode when she fell down the stairs and had a cabinet fall on her?" Because the Grim Reaper twisted his ankle while trying to kill Peter, this meant he couldn't go out and do his job. Therefor no-one was able to die for that period of time. |

Oh, nobody complained about Family Guy's flashbacks till South Park pointed it out. |

Actually I started complaining about it half way through the second season, also it's not the sole reason. |

I stand behind bored_girl on this one. She was complaining about flashbacks long before everyone was jumping on the South Park bandwagon. Of course, as soon as SP made that brilliant discovery, everyone complains about the flashback sequences. I watch it from time to time and same as when it first started, I get a few chuckles, a chortle, and possible a guffaw. Every couple of episodes, I may even get a belly laugh. I don't watch it enough to get sick of it, I guess. ;o) |

I haven't seen any South Park. I started complaining and getting sick of Family Guy a few episodes into the 4th season. That was when the formulaic and repetitive nature of the show got boring and lame. Take out the flashbacks and random scenes, you have little humor. I hate Family Guy now, and had they not brought it back, I probably still would like the first 3 seasons. I still love Stewie though. I think Stewie and Brian exist because Seth MacFarlane wants to do a musical. I think the reason I prefer shows like Futurama and The Simpsons over Family Guy is that yeah, there's a similar level of stupidity and spontaneity, but the plot is much more significant to Futurama and Simpsons, whereas you could pretty much remove the plot from most Family Guy episodes and you end up with the same product. |

Alright, not 'nobody'. :P But some of my favorite parts are like, when there are brief periods of seriousness which become relatively absurd in their context. I can't think of any other show that does that. :/ Plus, it's still better than something like Simpsons, who just have awful storylines. |

Yeah so it's clearly non-fiction. That's it? They tried to make it live action but someone died. |

South Park, no. There are no spontaneous moments of seriousness. Instead, it's mostly just one person(or a few) seeing the world in a more down-to-earth manner than everyone else. Like when the minister tries to talk to the Vatican, and they can't quite find common ground. With Family Guy, I mean like when the room is flooding and they have a serious talk about the Godfather. It's absurd because of the context. |

My shot at The Simpsons, by the way, is aimed at their most recent seasons. The older ones are better than any Family Guy episode. =) |

I don't know if to call Futurama an "adult cartoon," because it's rated PG. Maybe Family Guy. |
