I remember finding it once, I think I was playing Bloodmoon, not sure about that part. It is if I remember a lantern that won't burn out. Stays lit all the time. I guess it worth so much because there is only one in the game. If you have Nighteye, sell it. You do not need it for any quest that I know of.

UESP.net/wiki has sites for all the ES as well as other games. It has just about everything there is to know about the game. It can also ruin the game if it's the first time you've played. I would advise not going there until you have played the game thru at least once.
