» No spamming!
Spamming can be defined as posting the same or similar subjects 3 times or more, or it can be defined persistant posting with the intent to push other posts off the front page. The punishment for spamming is a Name Ban. For a second offense, it's an IP Ban.
» No Advertising!
Advertising is a very basic concept. If you post a web address that could be considered a competitor of GameTalk, or that is blatantly obscene, then you are advertising. Obviously some cases will be more serious than others. There is no set punishment for advertising, just a removal and a warning. For any inappropriate links, an automatic name and IP ban will be given.
» No Flaming!
Flaming can be considered teasing, taunting, or cursing at another user of GameTalk. Seeing as though none of the aforemetioned are absolutely necessary when posting at GameTalk, the punishment for flaming will be a warning, and for a second offense, a name ban.
» Give credit to other people's work!
If you give somebody an answer from GameFAQ's or any other related site, please note that within the post/reply. The person that wrote that guide took a long time to do so, at least give them the credit they deserve. And if they ask for special permission to be given, do that as well. No punishment will be given for this offense, just removal of the post/reply containing the material.
» No cybering!
Under any circumstances! The punishment for cybering is a permanent IP and name ban. So don't do it. And if you don't know what cybering is--ask your mom.
» No impersonating!
Any posts made using a screen name that appears the same or very identical to one already being used on this forum is forbidden. Using screen names containing any vulgarities or displaying an ill attitude towards another is also forbidden. All impersonators will receive an IP ban immediately and all posts made by them will be tagged.
» No arguing!
This one really goes along with flaming. Disagreements happen, and are completely acceptable unless they elevate into an all-out flare fest... If one of the moderators on this forum is not present to settle the situation, you are expected to report it in Complaints.
~*Note: This is NOT a democracy. Of course the rules and punishment, as well as the myself, will be fair. However, if a rule is not listed, but I consider what you did an offense, you will be banned for it. And then the rule will be added. This is not the US Constitution people. Thats why the link says "guidelines". That is all.
